Making Cards Magazine is packed with card ideas like this one! Laura's sweet I Love You! card was featured in the February 2008 issue.

Supplies:

Instructions:
For the Card Front:

  1. Place the card with the fold on the left and cover the card front with blue glimmer paper. Ink the edges of a 4 3/4"x6 1/4" piece of pink floral paper and glue it centered on the card front. Ink the edges of a 3 3/4" square of light blue texture paper. Mat the square on burgundy texture paper, trim to 1/8" and ink the edges. Glue the paper squares centered on the card front.
  2. Trace the Scandinavian Hearts template's large Basic Heart pattern twice, once onto blue glimmer paper and once on blue floral paper. Cut out each piece, then follow the instructions printed on the template to weave the Basic Heart. Glue the heart to the light blue square on the card front. Add ivory brads to the centers of two silk flowers, then Zot™ the flowers to the left of the heart.
  3. Glue pink sheer ribbon across the card front, overlapping the bottom of the heart.
  4. From the Mini Envelopes template, trace the vertical envelope with the triangular flap onto burgundy texture paper and cut out. Ink the edges and fold the envelope into shape, leaving the flap open.
  5. Trace the Scandinavian Hearts template's Pop-Up Heart shape onto blue glimmer paper. Flip over the template, then trace again onto light blue texture paper. Cut out each piece, then follow the instructions printed on the template to assemble the Pop-Up Heart. Glue the heart to the front of the envelope. Glue the envelope in the bottom right corner of the card front. Zot™ a bow of pink sheer ribbon to the left of the envelope, overlapping the ribbon length.
  6. Cut a tag shape out of blue glimmer paper. Fold a strip of blue floral paper in half and glue the loose ends behind the tag's tab. Add a silk flower to the tab using a mini brad. Computer journal “I love you!” onto light blue texture paper, ink the edges and glue to the tag. Tuck the tag in the mini envelope.

For the Card Inside:

  1. Ink the edges of a 5"x2" piece of blue floral paper and glue across the bottom of the card inside.
  2. Trace the pattern from the bottom right corner of the Mini Envelopes template onto blue glimmer paper. Cut out the pattern, ink the edges and fold the envelope into shape. Glue the envelope to the right end of the floral strip.
  3. Trace the Scandinavian Hearts template's Pop-Up Heart shape onto pink floral paper. Flip over the template, then trace again onto burgundy texture paper. Cut out each piece, then follow the instructions printed on the template to assemble the Pop-Up Heart. Glue the heart to the front of the mini envelope.
  4. Computer journal “happy anniversary” onto light blue texture paper, crop to a tag shape and ink the edges. Glue the tag overlapping the heart with the tab tucked under the center heart.

A tip from Laura:
Looking at the Scandinavian Hearts template, you'll notice two patterns (the Pop-Up Heart and Butterfly Heart) have “left side” printed above them. For these two patterns, trace the pattern once onto your paper to produce the left side of the heart. For the right side of the heart, be sure to flip over the template before tracing the pattern onto your paper. This will reverse the pattern, ensuring you'll get a complete heart or butterfly shape in the center of your Scandinavian Heart once assembled.
