Supplies:
Instructions:
- Trim the card front to 41/4". With the fold at the top,
cover the card front with gray linen paper, leaving the sides unglued
so you can tuck in the ribbons later. Ink the edges. Cut a 6"x4"
piece of red fleur de lis paper and chalk the corners as shown. Glue
it to the card front even with the fold.
- Cut out the quote and mat it on black glimmer paper. Ink the edges,
then mat it on white vellum. Ink the edges again. Use the X-acto®
knife and cutting mat to cut a slit on each side of the letters wide
enough for the ribbon. Weave a 7" length of ribbon through the
slits. Center the ribbon, then glue the quote to the card front. Attach
two brads in each end as shown. Glue the ribbon ends to the back of
the linen paper, then finish gluing the paper to the card front. Attach
a “thank you” fragment to the bottom left of the card with
foam tape.
- For the inside: Cover it with fleur de lis paper and chalk the corners.
Cut a 61/2"x1/4" linen strip, ink the edges then
glue it even with the bottom of the card inside. Cut a 61/2"x1/2"
white vellum strip, then ink and chalk it as shown. Glue it centered
on the card inside. Cut out the quote and ink the edges. Mat it on glimmer
paper, then glue it over the vellum.
- For the ribbon tie, fold a 9" length of ribbon in half and attach
it to the center bottom of the card front with a brad. Open the card
on the cutting mat and use the X-acto® to cut a slit in the card
back at the edge of the linen paper that is wide enough for the ribbon.
Thread the bottom length of ribbon through the slit—from front
to back—then tie the ribbons together.

A Tip from Susan:
You may have thought ribbons were just for wrapping presents and putting
in little girls’ pigtails, but it’s just not true! Ribbons
are perfect for paper crafting projects—cards, layouts, etc. Here
I created a card closure using black grosgrain ribbon that coordinates
perfectly with the card’s classic colors.

Idea Book. See your local retailer for project supplies.
