About the Projects
Technique: Holiday Cardmaking
Designers: LeNae Gerig & Susan Cobb
Still have lots of holiday cards to make, but feel crunched for time? Coordinating papers from the Cardmakers Christmas Creative Pack will make your cardmaking projects a breeze. With this great set of papers and a few fun embellishments, LeNae and Susan created two quick and easy cards that are sure to bring joy to this holiday season.
Seasons Greetings
By LeNae Gerig

This elegant card is the perfect greeting for everyone on your list. LeNae trimmed the bottom edge off the card front, then used traditional burgundy and green papers to cover the front and inside of the card. Embossed card focals add tons of metallic shine while lengths of ribbon add rich texture.
Make your cards stand out among the rest by cutting them to your desired shape and size, says LeNae. 5x6 1/2 blank cards are a great standard size, but they dont have to stay that way! On this Seasons Greetings card, I cut a strip off the bottom edge of the card front for a unique look. You can also try trimming your cards to square shapes or cutting off the right or bottom edge to make a long, thin card.

Instructions
For the Card Front:
- Turn the card so the fold runs along the top edge. Cut a 1 strip off the bottom of the card front, then cover the front with burgundy swirl paper.
- Cut out the gold snowflake, holly and Seasons Greetings embossed focals and glue the to the card front as shown. Add one gold mini brad to each corner of the Seasons Greetings focal.
- Cut a 7 length of green grosgrain ribbon. Use Zots to attach the ribbon length about 1/2 up from the bottom edge of the card front, then trim the excess ribbon even with the edges of the card. Cut an 8 length of green grosgrain ribbon and tie it into a shoestring bow, trimming the tails at an angle. Use a Zot to attach the bow toward the right end of the ribbon that runs across the card.
For the Inside of the Card:
- Cover the inside of the card with green striped paper. Cut a 6 1/2x2 1/8 piece of burgundy swirls paper and glue it to the inside of the card, about 3/8 down from the top edge.
- Cut a 7 length of green grosgrain ribbon. Use Zots to attach the ribbon about 5/8 down from the top edge of the burgundy swirls paper piece. Cut out the reindeer embossed focal and glue it centered over the ribbon length.
Holiday Greetings
By Susan Cobb

Susan covered the front of this holiday card with three coordinating papers in a cool blue color scheme, then accented it with versatile card quotes, ribbon and chic silver pinwheels.
Ever wonder what to do with pinwheels? Susan asks. Add dimension and metallic shine to your projects with pinwheels by running a length of ribbon through the pinwheel or adding a brad to the center. The silver pinwheels I used on this Holiday Greetings card reminded me of snowflakes, so I used them to accent the snowflakes on my background paper by simply adding them to the centers of the snowflakes with matching silver brads.

Instructions
For the Card Front:
- Turn the card so the fold runs along the left edge. Cut a 1 1/2 wide strip of light blue textured paper and glue it flush against the fold, trimming the excess paper even with the top and bottom edges of the card. Cut a 1 1/2 wide strip of blue striped paper with the stripes running vertically, then glue it about 1 1/4 in from the fold and trim the excess even with the edges of the card. Starting 2 1/2 in from the fold, cover the rest of the card front with blue snowflakes paper and trim evenly with the edges.
- Cut a 7 length of dark blue grosgrain ribbon. Use Zots to secure the ribbon down the card front, centered on the striped paper strip, then trim the tails even with the top and bottom edges of the card.
- Cut out the Holiday Greetings quote and mat on dark blue textured cardstock, trimming the mat to 1/8. Use light blue chalk to accent the quote, then glue the matted quote centered against the card fold. Cut an 8 length of dark blue grosgrain ribbon and tie it into a shoestring bow, trimming the tails at an angle. Use a Zot to attach the bow over the ribbon length from step 2, just above the top edge of the quote.
- Use silver mini brads to attach three silver pinwheels to the centers of three snowflakes printed on the blue snowflake paper.
For the Inside of the Card:
- Cut a 3 3/4x3 piece of blue striped paper and glue it just above center on the inside of the card. Cut out the quote and mat it on dark blue textured cardstock, trimming the mat to 1/16. Mat again on light blue textured paper, trimming the mat to 1/8. Use light blue decorating chalk to accent the quote, then glue the matted quote centered over the blue striped paper.
- Cut a 3 1/2 length of dark blue grosgrain ribbon. Tie a knot in the center of the ribbon length and trim the tails at an angle, then use a Zot to attach the knot at an angle in the bottom left corner of the quote.
