DAYS UNTIL CARDMAKING
WEEK OF WEBISODES:
2

Tip of the Day

I was helping my granddaughters (age 7 and 3) make birthday cards for their mother. When they were finished, I took a picture of each of them holding their completed cards, printed the pictures from my computer and attached each picture to the inside of each card. I added the date and the age of each child as well. Many years from now, when my daughter comes across these cards (I know she'll save them!), she'll be able to see the beautiful faces of her young children, proudly displaying their lovingly created "masterpieces"! — Judy

More Paper Piecing

Raise your hand if you’re a Paper Piecing Addict. Ok, everybody, put your hands down. We admit it too: we love paper piecing! In fact, we love it so much that we have released multiple paper piecing pattern books like 201, 202 and 203 Paper Piecing Patterns. Well, all of our Paper Piecing books are filled with wonderful, whimsical artwork.

Please enjoy this FREE pattern and album page idea straight from the book, Annie Lang’s 202 Paper Piecing Patterns. We thought you’d like this sweet bumblebee—he’s great for kids’ pages, summertime photos, and so much more!

And an added bonus, scrapbook specialist LeNae Gerig created this layout using our little bee. Take a look!

For the “Bee With Flower” from Annie Lang’s 202 Paper Piecing Patterns

• patterned Paper Pizazz® black with white dots (available by the sheet or in Making Heritage Scrapbook Pages)
• specialty Paper Pizazz® blue vellum (Part not in database (may have been discontinued): #3090)
• solid Paper Pizazz® goldenrod, red, green (Plain Brights) black (Solid Jewel Tones)
• gold, orange, orange-red decorating chalks (Craf-T)
• white pen: Pentel Milky Gel Roller
• black, red, orange pens: Zig Writer

Note: Printing at 100% creates a full size pattern

For the album page:

• patterned Paper Pizazz®: black & white checks (Part not in database (may have been discontinued): #5910)

• solid Paper Pizazz®:
black (Solid Jewel Tones)
white (Plain Pastels)

To make the page, LeNae cut down a sheet of check paper and centered it onto black so she could journal around the edge of the page. Notice how LeNae let the little bee overlap one of the photos slightly—it’s a nice way to lead the viewer’s eye to the photo.

“I picked a black and white color combination for the bee and the background papers to contrast with Mia’s orange shirt and the flowers,” says LeNae. “It makes Mia’s photos stand out from the page.”

Thanks for sharing with all the Paper Piecing Addicts out there, LeNae!
