Paper Pizazz™ Metallic Papers ARE Acid-Free!

by Sara Naumann

Are Paper Pizazz™ metallic papers really acid-free? The answer is yes!

"We're developing a complete line of acid-free metallic gold and silver Paper Pizazz™ designs," says Hot Off The Press President Paulette Jarvey. "And as with all of our scrapbooking products, we take an enormous amount of care to ensure they are acid-free and lignin-free."

Hot Off The Press began researching metallic papers over a year ago. "Our goal was to develop a metallic paper that was highly reflective-as reflective as foiling," says Vice-President Teresa Nelson, who heads the company's product development. "Foiling is an expensive process, however, and we wanted to offer the metallic look at an affordable price."

Paulette and Teresa enlisted the help of their printer to assist in research and development. (Hot Off The Press has worked with the same printer since the company began in 1980; he is about 15 minutes away from the HOTP headquarters.) The printer conducted extensive research over the course of four months, testing and retesting various printing methods until the perfect process was found.

"In addition to offering solid gold and silver papers, we also wanted to print detailed, all-over metallic patterns on lightly patterned paper," adds Paulette. "Yes, we definitely had something special in mind!"

Teresa adds, "At Hot Off The Press, our goal is to provide wonderful papers to inspire scrapbookers. Yet we also know how important it is that these papers are acid-free and lignin-free. That's why we work so closely with our printer. We keep our printing local to us so we can maintain control over the color, design and quality and conduct regular tests to ensure all Paper Pizazz™ is acid-free and lignin-free."

"Scrapbookers have our guarantee that Paper Pizazz™ is acid-free and lignin-free-whether that's metallic paper, vellum or regular paper," says Paulette. "We know how important that is to scrappers, which is why we would never, ever put the Paper Pizazz™ name on any paper that wasn't thoroughly tested."
