Happy Halloween Card
By Debbie Samples
Designer Tip: Spoonful of Midnight adds a spooky glow to a Halloween card
- Use a Center Step Blank Card: Trace & cut the pattern pieces from the Halloween orange/black paper. Glue to the matching areas. Cut a border from the border paper and glue along the border. Ink all of the edges black.
- Stamp the tree on a 6”x5” newsprint paper, with VersaMark™ ink. Dust with black embossing powder. Tap off the excess, and heat emboss with the heat tool. Cut loosely around the shape of the tree. Mat on Black cardstock with 1/8” borders. Stamp and emboss the “Happy Halloween” stamp on a 3”x2” tan newsprint paper. Dust with black embossing powder and tap off the excess. Heat emboss with the heat tool. Cut loosely around the words. Mat on black cardstock with 1/8” borders.
- Pour some of the Spoonful of Midnight on one of the vertical borders. Move it around with a brush, and pile it up towards the middle of the panel. Carefully bring the heat tool under the card, and heat from the bottom. It takes a bit more time than usual embossing. Heat until you see the black part get shiny. Do the same to the other vertical panel. Pour some of the Spoonful of Midnight on the bottom of the tree. Again move it with the brush to pile it up in some areas. Heat with the heat tool, always from the bottom. Keep adding small sections of the encrusted jewels to small areas of the tree. You can use VersaMark( marker to add it to specific areas. Heat emboss. Add a small bit to the Halloween sentiment, using the same method. Foam tape the tree to the center panel, and the words to the bottom right corner.
