Scrapbooking Back to School Photos

Kari’s First Day of School
Designer: Susan Cobb

This fall, go back to school with fast and fabulous layouts. Designer Susan Cobb scrapped this adorable back-to-school picture using the very latest papers and cardstock stickers. And the best part? Depending on how fast you journal, this is a 20-minute layout!

(Check out the Back to School Photo Tips for Scrapbookers article in the August 2004 issue of Creative Paper Crafts online magazine!)

Supplies:

• Paper Pizazz® School Words Color Block
• Paper Pizazz® Yellow Lined Paper
• Paper Pizazz® Lime Canvas
• Paper Pizazz® Bright School Art Stickers
• Paper Pizazz® School Notebook ABC’s
100 Gold Mini Brads

Susan’s Tip: Printed color-blocked papers are the best for fast and easy pages! This background paper comes printed with the words at the top and four squares below. All I need to do is add my photo, journaling and embellishments. I LOVE cardstock stickers, because they’re sturdy and can be altered with brads, chalk, ink—even sandpaper.

How to Make Susan’s Page:
Mat the photo: Mat photo first on lime paper, then yellow lined paper. Susan left a 1/2”-wide yellow lined paper mat. She glued the photo to the center of the blue portion of the page, then added three gold brads along the left side.

Mix journaling and stickers: Look at the top of Susan’s photo mat to see how she mixed her own handwriting with the lime stickers to personalize the page. The number 3 on the right side of the photo mat leads the reader’s eye to the rest of her journaling, which is printed on lime paper and matted on yellow lined paper. Susan’sTip: To computer-journal on 12”x12” paper, simply cut the paper down to 8 1/2”x12” and run through your printer like usual.

Decorate the border: The color blocked squares at the bottom of the page are perfect for showcasing smaller photos or an array of sticker art. Susan mixed the Notebook ABCs with School Art Stickers, accenting some of the stickers with brads. In the bottom right corner, she layered the “a” notebook letter on top of the Report tag art sticker.
