First Day of School
By Paris Dukes

On this First Day of School layout, I used a black pen to add journaling directly to the background paper, then I accented the journaling with individual words from the School Vinyl Word Block, Paris says. I used silver mini brads and the ball-chain to attach the vinyl words to the paper and topped off the layout with the 12 vinyl border. The red, black and yellow color scheme found on the word block combines so well with the classic-colored papers and artwork from Busy Scrappers Solution for School Pages, creating a totally coordinated layout.
Supplies:
Instructions:
- Use the yellow notebook paper as the background. Mat the photos on black textured paper, trimming the mats to 3/8. Glue the matted photos at varying angles in the top left and bottom right corners of the page.
- Cut out and assemble the envelope from the artwork. Cut a 3 1/2 length of black and white gingham ribbon and wrap it horizontally across the top of the envelope, wrapping the ends around the edges to secure on the back. Glue the envelope vertically in the bottom left corner of the page. Cut out the School Days tag from the Vinyl Word Block, then punch a 1/8 hole at the top of the tag and run the ball-chain through the hole. Use Zots to attach the ball-chain fastener to the ribbon length on the envelope and to secure the tag in place on the page to the right of the envelope. Cut out the schoolhouse tag from the artwork. Cut out the phrase Back to School from the Vinyl Word Block and use two silver mini brads to attach the phrase to the tag. Cut an 8 length of black and white gingham ribbon and tie it into a shoestring bow. Use a Zot to secure the bow to the top of the tag, then use a glue stick to glue the tag to the page so its coming out of the envelope.
- Cut the Knowledge border from the Vinyl Word Block and use one silver mini brad on each end to attach the border across the bottom of the page, overlapping the envelope. Use a black pen and a combination of words and phrases from the artwork and the Vinyl Word Block to complete the journaling on the page as shown. Add a silver mini brad on each end of the artwork and Vinyl Word Block pieces to attach them to the page.
Princess
By LeNae Gerig

On this Princess layout, I used one half of the Girl Vinyl Word Block plus the vinyl border to create borders around the page, says LeNae. From the remaining half of the word block, I cut out individual words and images to accent the photo mat and to create three sweet slide mount embellishments. Since the Vinyl Word Blocks are see-through, I love placing them on top of a lightly patterned paper so the pattern shows through the vinyl. When working with a heavily patterned paper or a color that doesnt allow the words and images to show up, I recommend placing a different paper (like a solid cardstock) behind it so the word block really pops on your page!
Supplies:
Instructions:
- Use the pink sponged paper as the background. Cut the Vinyl Word Block in half vertically, then punch a hole in the left end of the Princess tag at the top of the word block and run the ball-chain through the hole. Lay the left half of the Vinyl Word Block vertically down the right side of the background paper, flush with the right edge. Cut the girlfriend border from the remaining Vinyl Word Block and lay it horizontally across the top of the page. Punch holes and add white mini brads to secure the Vinyl Word Block pieces to the background paper.
- Mat the photo on gold cardstock, trimming the mat to 1/8. Mat again on funky flowers on pink paper and trim the mat to 3/4. Mat again on black cardstock, trimming the mat to 1/8. Cut the words pretty, beauty and precious from the Vinyl Word Block and attach them under the photo on the funky flowers on pink mat, then glue the matted photo centered on the background paper.
- Cut a small tag shape out of gold cardstock and use a black pen to journal the year onto the tag. Ink the edges of the tag with black and punch a hole in the top of the tag. Run the ball-chain from the Vinyl Word Block through the hole and use a glue stick to secure the tag in the top right corner of the photo mat, as shown.
- Cover three standard slide mounts with yellow gingham paper and ink the edges with black. Cut out the Lovely girl phrase from the Vinyl Word Block and glue it behind one of the slide mounts, framing the phrase in the window. Use a black pen to journal the name on the top edge of the slide mount. Cut a 2 length of pink grosgrain ribbon and fold it in half, then use a pink pearl mini brad to attach the fold in the top left corner of the slide mount. Cut out the crown with the word cute from the Vinyl Word Block and frame it in the window of a second slide mount. Cut a 2 1/2 length of pink grosgrain ribbon and tie a knot in the center, then use a Zot to attach the knot to the top edge of the slide mount. Cut out the phrase sweet thing from the Vinyl Word Block and frame it in the window of the remaining slide mount. Cut a 2 length of pink grosgrain ribbon and fold it in half, then use a pink pearl mini brad to attach the fold in the top right corner of the slide mount. Evenly space the three slide mounts down the left side of the page and secure in place with a glue stick.
Merry Christmas
By LeNae Gerig

To cover the seam between the two portions of this color blocked paper, I cut out the border from the Christmas Vinyl Word Block and attached it across the middle of the page with colorful red brads, LeNae shares. I cut out individual words to accent the large photo mat and I added words directly on top of the photos, again taking advantage of the translucency of the vinyl. For substantial page accents, I cut out squares from the Vinyl Word Block that contained multiple words and images and framed them in the windows of Large Square Slide Mounts .
Supplies:
Instructions:
- Use the green with square border paper as the background, orienting the paper so the border runs along the bottom edge. Cut an 11x6 3/4 piece of holly on green paper, then mat on black cardstock, trimming the mat to 1/16. Glue the paper centered in the light green portion at the top of the background paper. Mat two photos on red cardstock, trimming the mats to 1/8. Mat again on black cardstock, trimming the mats to 3/16. Glue the matted photos next to each other on the holly on green paper, with the left photo slightly higher than the right photo.
- Cut out the greetings tag from the Vinyl Word Block, then punch a hole in the top of the tag and run the ball-chain through it. Cut a 5 length of red and white striped ribbon and tie it into a shoestring bow. Use Zots to attach the shoestring bow in the top left corner of the left photo and to attach the ball-chain fastener so the ball-chain loops around the bow, then secure the greetings tag in place.
- Cut a 2 length of red and white striped ribbon and tie a knot in the center. Cut out the ornament and the gift tag from the Vinyl Word Block and use Zots to attach the knotted ribbon and the Word Block pieces between the two photos. Cut out the Merry Christmas phrase and attach it in the top right corner of the holly on green paper with a green mini brad. Cut out the Believe border and punch a hole in each end. Add one red mini brad to each hole to secure the border across the background paper, covering the seam between the light green portion and the border.
- Cover two large square slide mounts with red cardstock and one with dark green cardstock, then ink the edges with black. Cut a 2 1/2 length of green and ivory gingham ribbon and tie it around the top left edge of one of the red slide mounts. Cut out a square from the Vinyl Word Block that includes family, glad, tidings, hope and the stocking image and glue behind the red slide mount, framing the word block in the window. Use a glue stick to adhere the slide mount in the far left square on the background papers border. Cut a 2 1/2 length of red and white striped ribbon and tie it around the bottom left edge of the green slide mount. Add a small photo in the window of the slide mount and adhere the slide mount in the center square on the background papers border. Cut another 2 1/2 length of green and ivory gingham ribbon and tie it in the top left corner of the final red slide mount. Cut out a square from the Vinyl Word Block that includes the Christmas definition and the word wonder, then add it to the window of slide mount. Use a black pen to journal the year in the bottom right corner of the slide, then secure it in the far right square on the background papers border.
