Instructions:
For the Card Front:
- With the card fold at the left, cover the card front with red Christmas squares paper. Cut a 5x3 1/4 piece of green holly paper and glue it to the card front, flush against the bottom edge. Ink the edges of the card with black. .
- Cover a stereo slide mount with green textured paper and ink the edges with black. Turn the slide mount so the large edge is on the right side. Cut a 2 length of red grosgrain ribbon, then attach it vertically down the right edge of the slide mount and trim the ribbon even with the slide mount edges. Cut a 1 length of red grosgrain ribbon and fold it in half, then secure the loose ends centered behind the right side of the slide mount to create a tab. Add one 1 gold bar brad to the right edge of the slide mount. Use foam mounting tape to attach the slide mount centered on the red Christmas squares portion of the card front. Add one green tree brad to the window of the slide mount.
- Cut a 5 length of red grosgrain ribbon and glue it across the front of the card, covering the seam between the red Christmas squares and green holly papers. Cut an 8 length of red grosgrain ribbon. Glue one end of the ribbon on top of the ribbon length that runs across the card front, about 1 1/4 in from the card fold. Run the ribbon to the left, then fold over and run it to the right, repeating this step until there are two loops on each side. Add a 1/2 gold bar brad to the center to secure the loose tail and to hold all the loops in place. Cut out the Merry Christmas tag and ink the edges with black, then glue centered just under the looped ribbon.
For the Card Inside:
- Cut a 3 1/2 square of green holly paper. Mat on red poinsettia paper, then trim the mat to 1/4 and ink the edges with black. Cut a 5 length of red grosgrain ribbon and run it across the center of the matted square, wrapping the ends around the edges and securing on the back. Glue in the upper portion of the card inside.
- Cut out the red oval tag and ink the edges with black. Cut out one of the small green tags with a red center and glue at an angle at the top of the oval tag. Add one green tree brad to the red center of the small tag and glue the layered tags centered on the paper square, overlapping the ribbon length.
- Cut a 4 length of red grosgrain ribbon and trim the tails at an angle. Tie a knot in the center of the length and use a Zot to secure the knot at the top of the tags.
Susan joined the Hot Off The Press design team seven years ago and has since produced countless paper crafting projects for Paper Wishes, Creative Paper Crafts and popular scrapbooking magazines like PaperWorks and Crafts & Things. The joy of my work comes from discovering new ways of combining paper and embellishments, especially when it involves greeting cards, Susan says. I hope you enjoy these new techniques, and have as much fun creating this card as I did.
