Instructions:
For the Card Front:
- Place the card with the fold on the left. Cover the card front with red color block paper, positioning the printed tan grosgrain ribbon along the bottom edge of the card. Ink the edges of the card front black.
- Cover a slide mount with striped paper and ink the edges black. Place the slide mount with the stripes running horizontally. Lay the Christmas tree overlay over the slide mount and trim any excess overlay even with the edges of the slide mount. Holding both layers together, punch a 1/4" hole in the bottom right corner of the slide mount. Fold a 2" length of red grosgrain ribbon in half and secure the loose ends behind the top of the slide mount to create a tab. Glue the layered slide mount and overlay 1/2" from the top of the card, leaving the bottom right corner unglued. Add a green mini brad to two of the ornaments printed on the tree overlay to secure the overlay in place.
- Run a 2" length of red grosgrain ribbon through the hole in the corner of the slide mount. Use a bow brad and a red mini brad to attach a "joy" overlay over the loose ends of the ribbon length. Knot a 3" length of red grosgrain ribbon and use a Zot to attach the knot over the left end of the border that runs along the bottom of the card.
For the Card Inside:
- Ink the edges of a 5"x2 1/4" piece of color block paper. Glue the paper across the inside of the card, placing the printed tan grosgrain ribbon even with the right edge. Use two green mini brads to attach the quote overlay over the color block paper.
Now that you've completed one card, you probably have a few more people to cross off your list. Mix and match your leftover papers and embellishments to create more cards using the same layout! Here are a couple examples to get you started:
Susan used coordinating tan papers and a holly
Dress-Up™ to create this entirely different card using the exact same layout as above! For this card, she added the overlay quote underneath the slide mount instead of layering it on top of the slide mount. |
Susan kept the original red and green color scheme for this card, this time combining the coordinating papers with an adorable wreath Dress-Up™. Again, she framed the overlay behind the slide mount window rather than layering it on top. |
