For the Cover:

    Covering a sarabinder™

To cover your binder with paper, apply adhesive to the binder, especially around the corners and edges where the binder will be handled more. Glue your paper to the cover, lining up the edge of the spine with the edge of the paper. Place face down on a cutting mat and use an X-acto® knife to cut the excess paper from around the edges of the binder.
  1. Ink the spine of the binder brown. Cover both the front and back surfaces of the binder with roses paper (see the sidebar to the right for instructions). Glue a 4 3/4"x6 3/4" piece of pink stripes paper (stripes running vertically) centered across the front of the binder. Use a black pen to add zigzag penwork overlapping the top and bottom edges of the pink stripes paper.
  2. Mat a 2"x4" photo on deep mauve textured paper, trim the mat to 1/8" and ink the edges black. Glue the matted photo over the left side of the pink stripes paper. Tie a 10" length of pink grosgrain ribbon into a shoestring bow and use a Zot™ to attach the bow over the left edge of the photo.
  3. Journal "about" onto the pink label and glue centered over the right side of the pink stripes paper. Cut out alphabet tiles to spell "all" and "about", then alternate between glue stick and foam tape to attach the tiles above and below the "about" label.

For the Inserts:
Now that you've decorated the binder, what about the scrapbook pages? LeNae combined manila pockets and manila dividers to create interactive pages for her scrapbook! She decorated the front of each pocket with papers, photos and cut-outs, then added computer journaling to the dividers. She created a cute pull-tab on each divider with a folded piece of ribbon, then inserted the journaled dividers into the pockets for unique pull-out journaling.

Each manila pocket comes with pre-punched holes down the side so they're easy to insert in the binder. When decorating the pockets, don't worry about covering up the holes with papers or photos—you can go back and re-punch them! If you cover up the holes, simply turn over the pocket and position a 1/4" hole punch over each hole to re-punch the covered up holes.

For the pocket, LeNae tore the top and bottom off a 5"x5 3/4" piece of brown dotted paper and glue centered across the front. She added a cut-out border down the left side and added a small matted photo on top. She placed a word clip to the top corner of the photo and created a collage of artwork cut-outs down the right side. For the pocket insert, LeNae cut the holes off one divider and added a piece of striped flourish paper across the front with the top and bottom edges torn. She computer journaled on ivory cardstock and inked the edges, then glued it across the torn paper and accented it with a cut-out. She stapled a folded length of blue grosgrain ribbon to the divider tab and placed the divider in the pocket.

Page Two

LeNae glued a piece of pink striped paper across the front of the pocket, then layered a photo on top. She accented the right side of the photo with artwork cut-outs and knotted ribbon. For the pocket insert, LeNae cut the holes off a divider and glued a piece of aqua striped paper across the front. She tore the top and bottom edges off a piece of pink rose paper, then layered it on top of the striped paper. She computer journaled onto ivory cardstock and inked the edges, then centered it on the pink rose paper. She added an artwork cut-out overlapping the bottom edge of the journaling. LeNae stapled a folded piece of pink grosgrain ribbon to the tab, then placed the divider in the pocket.

Page Three

For the pocket, LeNae inked the edges of a 5" square of floral paper and centered it on the front. She added a border across the bottom of the pocket, then glued a small matted photo over the right side. She added journaled label over the bottom of the photo, then created a collaged border on the left with artwork cut-outs. For the pocket insert, LeNae cut the holes off a divider, then glued a piece of red flourish paper centered on the remaining divider. She computer journaled on ivory cardstock and inked the edges, then glued a border along the bottom of the journaling. She added the journaling across the center of the divider, then accented it with artwork cut-outs. LeNae stapled a folded piece of blue grosgrain ribbon to the tab before inserting the divider into the pocket.

Page Four

LeNae overlapped two 3 1/2"x4 1/2" pieces of purple patterned papers on the front of the pocket. She added a small matted photo in the bottom corner, accenting the top of the mat with a tab cut-out. She created a collage in the top left corner with artwork cut-outs. For the pocket insert, LeNae cut the holes off a divider, then glued a strip of purpled dotted paper across the front. She computer journaled on ivory cardstock, inked the edges and glued it even with the left edge of the divider, then added a tab cut-out. She matted a photo on purple textured paper and glued it even with the right edge of the divider. LeNae stapled a folded piece of lavender grosgrain ribbon to the tab before inserting the divider into the pocket.
