Happy Birthday card with envelope

About the Project
Technique:
Happy Birthday card with envelope
Designer: Susan Cobb

Just for you, Mom
By Laura Nicholas

Designer Tip: Instead of attaching the flowers with a brad through the center of the Giant Spiral card, I simply used a glue dot to attach it to the edge of one of the card petals, very near the center of the card. Then, I glued the tag beneath the edge of the flowers on the same petal. I created the square envelope with the coordinating dots paper and a bit of the leftover striped paper.

Supplies:

Instructions: Card

  1. Position the template on the back of your striped paper sheet (with the stripes vertical). Draw the outline and the fold lines, keeping close to the inside. Remove the template and cut around the outer edges of your design. Fold each petal inward on the fold line; then unfold. Working clockwise, fold the petals inward. Gently lift up the first petal to tuck the last two petals in place.
  2. Write or computer print "Happy Birthday" on a small tag, and "Hope your day is extra special!" on the label. Layer two pink flowers together with an ivory mini brad at the center, then use a glue dot to attach them to a card petal near the center. Glue the tag near it on the same petal. Mat the label on the remaining striped paper and glue centered to the inside. Envelope

  3. Position the template bottom along the bottom edge of your dotted paper. Draw around the square envelope design including the fold slots. Remove the template and cut along the outer edges. Position the cut out shape so the top flap is at the top. Fold flap A up along the fold line. Fold flaps B and C along the fold lines to the center. Glue those flaps closed. Fold the top flap down along the fold line. Cut a 5"x1" striped paper strip and attach a pink mini brad buddy with ivory brad to the center. Glue the strip across the flap of the envelope. Trim the side edges evenly.
