Instructions
For the Left Page:

  1. Use the brown/blue/pink geometric stripes paper as the background, turning the paper so the stripes run horizontally and the staggered ends run down the left side. Mat a 5”x7” vertical photo on white cardstock, trimming the mat to 1/16”. Cut two 1 1/2” lengths of pink grosgrain ribbon and trim an inverted “V” into the left end of each ribbon length. Secure the other end of one length behind the top right edge of the matted photo and secure the end of the other length behind the bottom right edge. Wrap the ribbon lengths around to the front of the photo and secure in place with Glue Dots™. Mat the photo again on blue polka dot paper, trimming the mat to 3/8”, and use a black pen to add faux stitching pen work around the edges. Mat again on white cardstock, trimming the mat to 1/16”, then glue the matted photo centered 2” in from the right edge. Run a short length of white embroidery floss through the holes on two small brown buttons and use Glue Dots™ to secure one button to the top of each of the pink grosgrain ribbon lengths.
  2. Thread a short length of white embroidery floss through the holes on one medium light blue button and use a Glue Dot™ to attach the button to the center of a large pink flower. Use a Glue Dot™ to secure the flower centered just to the left of the photo. Add one pink brad each to the center of one small brown flower and one small light blue flower, then use the brads to secure the flowers down the left side of the photo, as shown.

For the Right Page:

  1. Use the tan with geometric stripes border paper as the background, turning the paper so the border runs down the left edge. Cut a 5 3/4”x12” piece of blue polka dot paper and glue it vertically down the center of the page.
  2. Mat a horizontal 5”x7” photo on white cardstock, trimming the mat to 1/16”. Cut two 1 1/2” lengths of brown grosgrain ribbon and trim an inverted “V” into the right end of each ribbon length. Secure the other end of one length behind the top left edge of the matted photo and secure the end of the other length behind the bottom left edge. Wrap the ribbon lengths around to the front of the photo and secure in place with Glue Dots™. Mat the photo on brown polka dot paper, trimming the top, left and right edges of the mat to 1/2” and the bottom edge to 2”. Use a black pen to add faux stitching pen work around the edges of the polka dot mat, then mat again on white cardstock and trim to 1/16”. Glue the matted photo centered 1 3/4” down from the top of the page. Run a short length of embroidery floss through the holes on two small pink buttons and use Glue Dots™ to secure one button to the top of each of the brown grosgrain ribbon lengths.
  3. Computer journal onto white cardstock and crop to a 1 1/2”x7” rectangle, leaving at least 1 1/2” of blank space on the left end. Use the black pen to add faux stitching pen work around the edges of the journaling, then glue the journaling over the large bottom edge of the brown polka dot mat, centered under the photo. Add two painted flower brads down the blank space on the left end of the journaling block.
  4. Cut out the blue polka dot tag. Computer journal “Pure Sweetness” onto white cardstock, crop to a small rectangle and add faux stitching pen work around the edges of the journaling. Glue over the bottom of the tag, then glue the tag at an angle in the top right corner of the photo. Attach one small pink flower over the top portion of the tag using a Glue Dot™. Run a short length of embroidery floss through one medium light blue button and use a Glue Dot™ to secure the button in the center the flower.

A tip from LeNae: When using a tag to display journaling on a project, it’s easy to feel like any embellishments you add to the tag (brads, buttons, ribbons) are supposed to go on the tab. On this “Pure Sweetness” spread, I used a tag to display my page title, accenting the center of the tag with a small silk flower with a button center. While I placed the flower in the center of the tag rather than at the top, the page title is still easy to read and the shape of the tag is perfectly visible–give it a try!
