Supplies:
Instructions:
- Use the warm color block paper as the background. Mat the photo on
lime texture paper and trim the mat to 1/16”. Mat again on black
glimmer paper and trim the mat to 1/8”. Mat again on orange swirls
paper and trim the mat to 1/2”. Mat again on black glimmer paper
and trim the mat to 1/16”. Center the photo on the large color
blocked portion of the background paper and adhere using a glue stick.
- Place a 3/16” pink eyelet in the bottom right corner of the
photo. Cut a 3” strip of black and ivory gingham ribbon and thread
it through the eyelet, securing it on the back of the photo mat. Cut
a 5” strip of black and ivory gingham ribbon and run it vertically
down the top left corner of the page on top of the green diamonds color
blocked portion of the background paper. Wrap one end of the ribbon
around the top edge of the paper and secure the ribbon on the back.
- Cut out the tags from the artwork and add tape-style ABC stickers
to the tags representing the year and age. Accent the ABC stickers with
yellow and orange decorating chalk. Add an orange mini brad to the top
of each tag. Using foam mounting tape, attach the tag cut-outs just
below the black and ivory gingham ribbon strips as shown. Cut two strips
of black and ivory gingham ribbon and tie each into a shoestring bow.
Using Glue Dots™, attach one shoestring bow at the top of each
tag, overlapping the ribbon strip.
- Add two tape-style ABC stickers to the top right corner of the photo
representing the initials, then accent the stickers with orange and
yellow chalk. Cut a strip of black and ivory gingham ribbon and tie
a knot in the center. Attach it in the top right corner of the page
using a Glue Dot™.
- Using a black pen, write the name just under the year tag. Computer
journal onto white paper, then crop and mat the journaling onto black
glimmer paper, trimming the mat to 1/16”. Using a glue stick,
glue the journaling under the name and accent the title with orange
and yellow chalk.

A Tip From Shauna:
A color blocked background paper is perfect for the busy scrapper—just
use the blocks as designators for photos, journaling and embellishments.
Don’t be afraid to leave some areas of your layout empty. In this
“Summer Girl” layout, I let the patterned border at the bottom
of the page remain empty except for the small tag dangling on the right
side.
