Decorated Wood Tree
By Susan Cobb
Designer's Tip: I decorated this tree for springtime, but it would also be beautiful decorated with winter or holiday papers and ink colors. This tree is perfect as a centerpiece for a small table.
- Ink one panel of the tree with olive pastel ink. Use the heat tool to dry the ink. Repeat for both sides of each panel. Spritz each panel with Gold Glow Smooch Spritz on both sides, then repeat with the River Mossy color. Dry with the heat tool.
- Place tracing paper over one panel of the tree, and trace a large bird shape with the pencil. Use the transfer paper to trace the design onto striped paper, then cut out the paper shape. Repeat this process for a total of 8 large birds and 8 small birds. Now use the same technique for 8 large pink flowers, and 8 small pink flowers. Ink the edges of each bird and flower with olive pastel ink. Punch a hole at the center of each flower. Glue the birds and flowers over their wood counterparts.
- Decorate the bottom edge of the base with border stickers, trimming to fit the pieces. Add hearts, flowers, birds, and swirl stickers as shown. Add tiny dot stickers for the birds' eyes. Back the birdcage with blue swirls paper and trim around the edges. Hang from one lower branch with a leftover piece of border sticker. Tie a bow around the base. Zot knotted ribbon to the panels as shown
