Designer’s Tip: Layer the intricate butterfly die-cuts with the pretty shadow shapes for added color and depth. I then matted the butterflies on ivory textured paper for extra contrast.
- Place your card with the fold on the left. Cover the card with Robin’s Red bordered paper with the tiles border at the bottom. Place Black Jewel Border Dazzles™ across the rows of tiles on the border, plus on the edges of the card. Ink “Happy Birthday” from the Greetings Dazzles™ sheet with Black SurfaceZ ink and set aside to dry.
- For ease in die-cutting, place wax paper between the cutting die and the paper or cardstock. Die-cut 1 large, 1 medium, and 2 small butterflies, each from aqua cardstock (be sure to save the “innies” from the small butterfly die-cuts—you will use them later). Die-cut 1 large and 1 medium shadow butterfly plus 2 small butterflies from red textured paper. Place the large aqua butterfly centered on the large red butterfly shadow. Repeat for the medium butterfly and shadow. Mat each layered die-cut on ivory textured paper with 1/16” borders. Foam tape each angled on the card front.
- Glue each small red butterfly to ivory textured paper. Glue the aqua “innies” to the inside spaces. Trim the ivory edges to 1/16” borders. Lightly fold the wings of one small butterfly and foam tape the body to the card front, near the larger butterflies. Embellish the butterflies with Black Jewel Dazzles™. Place “Happy Birthday” on the upper right portion of the card as shown. Use 1/8” wide black grosgrain ribbon to tie a bow. Zot™ on the card 1/2" from the bottom and 1” from the left.
