Designer’s Tip: To make the houses more sturdy, you may want to back them with cardstock before gluing to the side steps. Inking the edges of the house pieces is very important if you want to add dimension and interest to the pieces. It really makes a big difference to the look finished card.
- Trace the Side Step Card front panel pattern onto Family Ties striped paper, ink edges and glue to the card front. Place lengths of Red Jewel Border Dazzles™ down the card center. Stamp Welcome Home “Love Makes A…” on kraft cardstock, cut out and mat with Family Ties red flourish paper, leaving 1/8” border. Ink edges and mat with dark brown cardstock, leaving 1/16” border and ink edges. Place a Red Heart Jewel Dazzles™ on the word “Home” as shown. Foam tape the greeting to the center of the Border Dazzles™. Use ½” wide green swirl Family Ties Ribbon to make a bow and Zot( to the top left side of the greeting as shown. Trace the side step panels onto Family Ties dark brown paper, ink edges and glue to the side steps.
- Trace 2 Two Story Houses onto Family Ties red and blue papers. Trace Peeked Roof and Curved Roof onto brown and kraft cardstocks and ink edges with both brown and black ink pads and glue to the houses as shown. Trace a rectangle shape onto dark brown cardstock and ink edges. Glue to the right side of the blue house roof. Trace rounded and rectangle windows and a large rectangle for shutters and domed and traditional doors, all from dark brown and kraft cardstock. Use fine tip black pen to draw panes on the windows and glue and foam tape to the houses. Trace and cut a tree top from Family Ties green paper, ink edges brown and glue to extend from behind the left side of the blue house. Glue the red house to the back side step and the blue house to the center step.
- Trace One Story House and Tiny House onto Family Ties green paper and ink edges brown.. Trace One Story and Curved Roof onto kraft cardstock. To make the stripes on the house roof, place a piece of scrap paper just below the top of the roof and use the stylus handle and pad to apply brown ink to the scrap paper straight edge. Move the paper down 1/8” and repeat to make striped effect. Glue the roves to the houses and glue the tiny house to extend from the back left side of the larger house. Trace 1 tiny rounded window, 2 rounded windows and domed door onto kraft cardstock and ink edges brown. Use the pen to draw panes on all 3 windows and foam tape to the house. Glue the door as shown. Trace a heart shape onto Family Ties red paper, cut out and ink edges brown. Place a Red Heart Jewel Dazzles™ on the center and foam tape above the door. Glue the green house to the bottom front of the card, as shown.
