Help Us Celebrate World Card Making Day!

Greetings Everyone! Hope you are having a great week! It’s hard to believe that September is almost over, and the holidays are coming full force!

As we end September, we are approaching one of the greatest days, World Card Making Day! So what is World Card Making day? Like we need a reason to create something fabulous? LOL! But here’s a little What, When, Who and Why about the Holiday.

WHAT

World Card Making Day is a holiday especially for card makers around the world to:

  • Celebrate the creativity of handmade cards and the personal connection that they create between friends and family
  • Kick off (and get a head start on) the holiday card-making season

WHEN

The first Saturday of each October, kicking off the holiday card-making season, the most popular time for creating and sharing handmade greetings.

WHO

The card-making community worldwide, including hobbyists, beginning card makers, manufacturers of card-making products, retail sellers of products, educators, and press are invited to come together to celebrate this holiday and creative passion.

WHY

It is a day to connect with fellow card makers both near and far, to applaud the creativity that powers the craft, and to provide an opportunity for card makers to connect and find resources that will empower, inspire, and encourage them in their card making.

So now that you have the 411 on the Holiday. I want to let you what Paper Wishes is doing to celebrate this day.

Papier Tole! Oh Papier Tole, how we love you!

Wednesday is here and that means we are half way through the week! Hope you all are having a fabulous week.  This week like no other week, is busy busy around here. For me, I’m getting close to delivery! I think everyday, Paulette wonders….Is Cristina going to be here today? LOL For now, I’m good and so is the baby and we will be here until “he” decides its time! 😉

I’m a true crafter. I like to take things and turn them into something fabulous. I’ve been doing this for years, but being new to Paper Wishes, there are so many items that make my “crafting” a lot easier. One of those things would be Papier Tole! Lets get excited about Papier Tole, which is not difficult if you’ve seen the new designs! All of them will sure give you inspiration for that Creative Spirit!

For myself, Papier Tole is something totally new! Going back to how I was use to doing things (the difficult way) I would take images, copy them at the local print shop at least three or four times, then bring them home and cut, twist and turn them to add to my projects. I stacked them and used little foam tapes to give them 3-d effects.  The changeling part of it all was cutting these little images to perfection. And of course there’s the whole time issue…when do we have the time to do things the long way? We don’t, so our projects sometimes get neglected and our ideas get put on the shelf until we make the time to do so.

All along the hallways here at HOTP, hangs many of our products. And of course right outside my office door, yep, you guess is the Papier Tole section. When I first arrived here at HOTP, it was one of the first things that caught my eye. Each time I went in or out my door, I would stop and look, touch to see what it was all about. But it wasn’t until I saw Teresa’s Christmas cards that it all came together! Our Graphic Designers, have put together some fabulous sets! They have made things sooooo easy that most of them come with matching papers, ribbons and other embellishments’! Still, allowing you to get creative and inspiration to do your own projects. Making things just a bit easier, to save you some time!

So here’s where the fun begins! LOL This week’s Webisode, Paulette & Ann featured all the new Papier Tole in our new Fall Catalog.  You can click on the link to see them showcase the Papier Tole projects and give you some tricks & tips on how to use them. Don’t forget to also check out the Money savers, this week we are featuring 3 of them!

Since they are featuring all the new, I thought I’d reintroduce some of the others that are just as fabulous as the new ones!

One last thing I want to remind you of our Personal Shopper Club just for Papier Tole! Every other month you’ll receive TWO packs of Papier Tole sheets. It might be foil Papier Tole, pyramid Papier Tole or paper Papier Tole. All beautiful, all die cut and all yours!

In addition, you’ll receive coordinating papers so you can create right away! And the full-color newsletter shows finished cards and scrapbook pages with complete instructions.

The cost every other month is $12.99 which includes shipping in the US and Canada. International members will receive a $2 shipping credit. Just for joining you’ll receive FREE 2 packs of foam squares. And you can cancel anytime.

Back to school and today we remember…

We will never forget….Paper Wishes would like to take a moment in honor of today, marking the 10th anniversary of 9/11.  Garrett Hauck, 5, from Ballwin, looks up at some of the of 2,996 flags planted on Art Hill in St. Louis on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011 after a memorial service to mark the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. “People will ask him if he wants to be a baseball player when he grows up and he says no I want to be a firefighter” said his mother Carrie Hauck, not pictured, “He practically sleeps in this outfit.” (AP Photo/St. Louis Post-Dispatch, David Carson)

The First Day of School by Aileen Fisher

I wonder if my drawing will be as good as theirs

I wonder if they’ll like me, or just be full of stares

I wonder if my teacher will look like mom or gram

And I wonder if my puppy will wonder where I am.

Happy Sunday to you all! Hope everyone is doing well and relaxing!  For myself, its getting ready for the week and my kids back to school. Yes, back to school is in full-force! By now, all the kids should be back in school and back into the “school” routine.

I can remember just yesterday, my oldest son just starting kindergarten…this year he will be graduating from High School! Ugh, how time flies! And soon my middle son; will be finishing up elementary school then off he goes to Middle school!

Most of you have gotten our New Fall Catalog…inside you’ll find tons of inspiration on building your “Back to School” scrapbook pages. Being new to the company, I have a new fresh prospective on the catalog, so to me EVERYTHING is new! Down below I’ve posted some projects that feature a lot of our “back to school” supplies. However, I also wanted to share some other products that will help you make some projects for teachers or others that help educate our kids.

I’d like for you to share some of your back to school projects…You can post them on our Facebook Page, simply leave your comments or things that you’d done for fun projects for back to school! Here are some of the projects from our Fab designers: (remember to click on the projects to take you to each project page)

As always, I hope you have a great Sunday. Be good to yourself today, we all deserve it!

New routine…New addition…

Greetings Everyone! Hope you are having a great week. It’s been a pretty busy week for myself. I have two boys, 17 and 9 and they are both back to school! For my household, it’s back to our crazy routine. Along with back to school, I’m also preparing for a new addition to our family!

Yes, you guessed it…I’m pregnant. Not only did I just start my new fabulous job, but I’m also preparing for a short maternity leave! We are due in less then a month, Oct 4th to be exact! And we are having…yep…3 for 3, a BOY!!! Couldn’t be more excited to see our new baby boy, but with him comes a lot to prepare for.

I’m a true crafter; I always turn every event into something that I can make for it. And being pregnant doesn’t slow me down one bit! I’ve been working on his room, and trying to find cute things too add to it. My oldest son said, MOM, don’t make it sooo girly, he’s a boy! I have a house full of boys…nothing girly is allowed in my house. 🙂 But I always manage to sneak a few items here and there!

Call me crazy, here is my short list of things that I’m working on for the baby….

  • Baby Shower Invites – because store purchased ones are just a no-no with me!
  • Baby Announcements – I figured if I start now, I’d be ahead of the game!
  • Wall Art for his room
  • Baby Book

These are all works in progress…I have much to do before he is here! I’ll be sharing them once I have them all done! Meanwhile, I’d like to share some baby themed projects from our fabulous designers:

All of these projects are featured in our Project Gallery (simply click on project gallery and it will take you there). Make sure you bookmark it, for future project inspirations! Have a great week, and thanks for being apart of our Paper Wishes family! Please don’t forget to leave your comments of suggestions!
