Girlfriends Getaway!

What is Girlfriends Getaway? That was the first questioned I asked! I wasn’t able to attend last year, since I had just given birth to my son Emerson <3

Well, if you aren’t familiar with GG, let me tell you about this wonderful event! Each year, for one day Paulette Jarvey (owner) of Hot Off The Press & Paper Wishes® holds an event of creativity. This year she featured so many fun projects – from creating cards or a page, creating an album, some different techniques with tags and creating a mini book!

98 attendees joined us this year! The day started off with great energy as everyone arrived with moms, sisters, best friends, friends and I’m sure along the way, new friends were made! I know made some new ones – as Kris, Hailie and I helped out with passing out glue sticks, free prizes, M&M’s, glitter and so much more! I loved the interaction I had with many of the ladies – I got to see their projects, I met sisters, moms, cousins, best friends and I was even bribed with picking their names out of the prize basket. But they did eventually win! (NO bribe was needed)…LOL

We had a couple of ladies who traveled from out of the area, Sue Beaupre, from Winsor Ontario, Canada and from Ariana Fish from Wheeling, Illinois.  I was delighted that I had a chance to chat with Sue – as she expressed her gratitude for the webisodes, newsletters and all that we do. Theses were the smiles that made the day :) getting to know our customers and seeing their love for the craft

Working on the projects

Did I mention the prizes? During the year, Stan our Paper Wishes® buyer receives all kinds of goodies that companies send us for samples. We then turn around and give them as prizes! Debbie should be everyone’s best friend as she put them all together.  During the event, each hour 10-11 prizes were given out and if you didn’t win – your name was entered into the Grand Prize! We gave a total of 65 prizes. However, nobody walked away empty handed – because through out the day Paulette would announce – little things like, Do you love the Design tools??? Well you get to keep them!! :) Along with a metal stencil there were many little surprises like this the entire day that Paulette gave the attendees. Paulette loves her customers and loves to spoil them and it REALLY showed today!! We even got to sing Happy Birthday to attendee Krystal Snyder!!

Paulette one-on-one

Very pretty ladies!

Paulette spends just about the whole year planning the event and coming up with projects that everyone would love to discover. The whole company gets involved in planning, setting and breakdown – starting with Susan Cobb (our designer) who designed the projects that were shown, Debbie Samples sent out invites, got everyone registered, helped finding hotels, put together the sample sale, ordered lunch, put together all the fabulous prizes, plus so much more.

Here’s the list of all employees that helped set up, helped during the event, helped breaking down the event, or helped wherever was needed: Mike (Paulette’s Husband), Sandy (VP of Operation), Adam (Paulette’s son), Stan (Buyer), Linda (Warehouse manager), Kayla (Inventory), Kris (Warehouse Assistant), Hailie (Warehouse Assistant), Athena (Management Assist/Proofer), Kyla (Art Director), Steve O. (Web manager), Steve P. (Technology manager), Malia L. (Key accounts), Sharon (Kit Coordinator), Vera (Supreme packager), Mike Murphy (Warehouse Assistant), Jeweli (Warehouse Assistant), Corey Toews (Accounting) also Sarah (Sharon’s Daughter), Tom Juhala and Bruce.  A huge THANK-YOU goes out to all of them :) We ROCK!
