As you are all hopefully aware, Saturday is the 9th annual World Card Making Day! To celebrate such a momentous day, Paper Wishes® along with message board hosts have planned several special challenges with gift certificates for the winners – just to add even more fun to the occasion! There will be two challenges running on Saturday through midnight, plus a third that will run through both Saturday and Sunday! Be sure to check out the Swaps & Challenges section of our Message Board for the details!
Also, I told you last week I would include a little inspiration for your card making projects this weekend, so here are a couple sneak peeks of projects that are in our Paper Wishes Fall 2014 Special Edition catalog! The Special Edition comes out October 11, 2014, so I hope you are ready for even more awesome new craft supplies! Click each project to see a larger, clearer image, and I will soon be updating each one with a link to the project instructions! Below is a super cute Halloween card from LeNae that features our Halloween Papers, new Hazel’s Halloween Card Toppers, the Lacy Rectangle Frames cutting die set, and of course, some ribbon and bling!
Here’s another stunning card from Gail… You can create this gorgeous look simply by inking and stamping your cardstock (or paper) before sending it through your die cutting machine! She then backed her die-cuts with suede papers to highlight the elegant swirls and scrolls! The cutting die she used is the Decadence Die-sire Cutting Die that does double-duty – die cutting AND embossing!
And for your last bit of inspiration, I’d like to present this lovely “Happy Thanksgiving” card, submitted by our September Design Challenge winner:
Linda Holt of Laurel, MD
Linda’s gorgeous “Happy Thanksgiving” Card showed off some great resist stamping techniques! She used the iron-off method, which removes an embossing powder resist. What a stunning, polished card! Congratulations Linda!!! Create your own inspired version using the Mini Chicken Wire Template and our Cider Artful Card Kit!
Linda says, “My card emerged out of playing with supplies and techniques – the true inspiration for the piece was the Fall Swap on the message board, and those dimensional card toppers.” Thank you for your entry, Linda!! Beautiful work!
And with the arrival of October, we have started a new monthly Design Challenge. The theme of October’s Challenge is to create your wildest, most impressive, uniquely folded or shaped card! Hopefully that’s not too much of a curveball! There are just so many amazing folded cards that you can create (and you don’t need a degree in engineering). For full details, click here!
