Paper Wishes Celebrates the Marine Corps’ 240th Birthday!

Semper Fi, Marine!”

This is a greeting you’ll hear among Marines each year on November 10th, the official birthday of the Marine Corps. On this day, retired Marine Mike Jarvey brings in bottles of sparkling cider to share with Paper Wishes employees so all may share in a toast. This is one of the most touching things I encountered during my first year with Paper Wishes, perhaps in part because my own grandfather also served as a Marine. While he is no longer here, I embrace this chance to reflect on him, not just as my grandfather, but also as part of the deeply loyal brotherhood known as Marines.

Thank you to Mike, and all the Marines out there, both past and present. Through your loyalty to the Marines and your service to this country, you’ve earned our nation’s sincere gratitude at many levels—among communities, families and individuals. So if you know someone who served in the Marines, today’s the day to tell them, “Semper Fi, Marine!”

I salute you all, and thank you for your wonderful commitment to each other and to our country. Although my husband, father and father-in-law were all in the Army, not the Marines, they all fought for a good reason, to protect us from the enemy. And today is Veterans Day. My husband is in a wheelchair, due to being injured in Viet Nam, and he recognizes what everyone went through to protect our freedom. Thank you so much for your service todayt and everyday.

What a wonderful tribute on this Veteran’s Day. I am proud to say that my family has been honored with years of military service. My father-in-law was in WWII, my Dad was in Korea and my husband served 4 years in the Air Force (peace time). I want to thank them and all the service men and women who keep us save in these troubled times. May God continue to Bless them.
