HOTP Embossing Folders!

Good Day Crafters! At first glance you might think an embossing folder only has one function, to emboss. But thanks to our designers at HOTP, I have the pleasure of sharing with you multiple techniques using our HOTP Paper Artist Embossing Folders!!! First I have to tell you one of my favorite features about the Paper Artist Embossing Folders. I love that each one has a black image printed right onto the folder. It makes it so easy to see the design itself, and easier to find among all your folders. (Because if your like me you have to BUY THEM ALL!)

Let’s start with our whimsical HOTP Dandelion Embossing Folder. I love the way Lawrian embossed this image onto a transparency sheet and then sandpapered it to create this soft and delicate looking card.

040114project5a

Instructions can be found here.

Here is a completely different look using the same HOTP Dandelion Embossing Folder.  I created this card by embossing onto Silver Linen Specialty Paper, and then coloring the image using Smooches™! I placed a delightful Fairy Dazzles™ on top of the embossed image to add some whimsy!

040114project4a

Instructions can be found here.

Have you ever thought of using an embossing folder on a page? In this next sample LeNae shows us just how beautiful and easy it is to use Embossing Folders on a layout! She created the top background paper by repeatedly embossing kraft colored cardstock with HOTP Hearts & Dots Embossing Folder, and then inked it with black ink. You’ll also notice that she used the HOTP Dandelion Embossing Folder as a featured element for here page. After embossing the image she lightly applied white chalk for a subtle look.

040114project8a

Instructions can be found here.

I’m so in love with this next technique Gail did using the HOTP Flower Corners Embossing Folder and Metallics Perfect Pearls™!  It’s amazing how brushing a little Perfect Pearls onto a raised image can create such an incredible WOW factor! She repeated the same technique on the inside, but chose to cut out the flower corner for a different look. So fun!

040114project6a 040114project6b

Instructions can be found here.

Here’s a tone on tone look using the same HOTP Flower Corners Embossing Folder  and Distress Inks.  Using 4 colored papers from the Pretty Little Posies scrapbook double sided paper  I embossed each one with the Flower Corners Embossing Folder . Next each raised image was inked with a corresponding color in Distress inks. All that was left to do was cut out the images, and paper piece them back together! But this card could not be complete without first embellishing it with   one of HOTP’s newest additions to the family . . . Pretty Little Posies EMBELLIES™! (WARNING: Embellies™ can be highly addicting and should be used frequently for crafting purposes!)

040114project2a 040114project2b

Instructions can be found here.

I’m glad I was able to share some fun and feature a few techniques using these incredible Embossing Folders, BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE!  If you ACT NOW you can click on this link,  and see for yourself many more techniques using our Paper Artist Embossing Folders featured in one of our Weekly Webisodes!  So what are you waiting for . . . Go explore some Webisodes, and get crafting!

Metal Technique!

Good day Crafters! It’s nice to see your smiling faces! Are you ready to add some WOW to you r cards and pages? Your going to love the impact, and shine you get with this next product!

Metal Leaf sheets are the perfect way to really make your projects shine! We have Variegated Green Metal Leaf Sheets, Variegated Red Metal Leaf Sheets, Copper Metal Leaf Sheets and even more metal leaf sets on the way!

The technique is simple and yields AMAZING results! You simply add the Palette Stamp & Stick Glue pad Kit Adhesive Solution to what ever tools or project your working on.

imgJBHP9R13

Susan used the Lollipop Tree Cling Rubber Stamp to apply the adhesive solution to.

104

Then place the Metal Sheets over the stamped area. For this sample Susan used Green Variegated Metal Leaf Sheets.

101

Next you take the Scoochy Foam  and remove any excess metal leaf from the your project. The Smoochy Foam is a rough, long lasting foam and perfect for removing excess metal leaf or glitter from your stamped projects and artwork.

103

And the results of this simple technique . . .

Susan matted the tree using the Design Tool Kit#6, and used the Geometric Paper Pack to pull all the colors from the metal sheet together for a card that shines and shimmers!

The technique of metal leafing really does create one of a kind exquisite cards, and projects that would make excellent keepsakes or gifts.

4007877_0

You can find instructions here

It’s not just for stamping though! Just look at these other looks Susan created using the same adhesive and metal sheets! Here Susan used the same process as above, but replaced the stamp with the Ring Doily 6″x6″ Crafting Stencil.

4007805_0

You can find instructions here

For this last look,  Chalkboard Double Side Paper Pack Enchanted Moments Dazzles™,  Design Tool Kit#5, and Double Sided Adhesive sheets were used. Susan placed the Enchanted Moments Dazzles™ butterfly onto the adhesive sheets and then placed the metal sheet on top of that to create custom metal leafed butterflies for this dazzling card!

4007798_0

You can find instructions here

What I love best about this technique is that because the metal sheets fall apart after the first use, each time you reuse them they create layers and textures and every project turn out a little different! Just think of all the projects you could use this technique on! Make sure to check out Metal Leafing webisode in our weekly webisode gallery  ! Happy Crafting!

imgZCDVON3Q

I can’t wait for you to see some of the amazing things you can do with this fun new product!!! Just look at this beautiful technique using HOTP Flower Corner embossing folder. Susan created this lovely look by embossing the Shimmer Sheetz, sanding them, and then cutting out the individual flowers to create a layered effect. For finishing touches she placed Silver Jewel Dazzles™ in the center of the flowers and added Silver Jewel Border Dazzles™ to the edges.

You can also use Shimmer Sheetz to back Dazzles™! This scrapbook layout was created with HOTP Chalkboard Double Sided Scrapbook Paper Pack, and by layering HOTP Enchanted Moments Scrapbooking Dazzles™ onto Fire Opal Shimmer Sheetz. This highlights the Dazzles™ and gives them a magnificent iridescent quality. Gorgeous!

This next card by LeNae is seriously a show stopper!!! It’s absolutely Stunning and would a card anyone would truly appreciate receiving. The flowers from HOTP Fresh Cut Stamp Set were stamped onto Gemstone Shimmer Sheetz sampler set. Next the flowers were then cut out, and the edges where curled by slightly heating them with a heat gun. They were layered on top of Shimmer Sheetz that had been embossed with HOTP Woven Lattice Embossing Folder.  If I received this card it would definitely be out on display for everyone to see!

Are you ready for a Shimmering Sheetz color explosion? Shimmer Sheetz absolutely look unbelievably delightful on this next card! Stamping Fun!

Good Day crafters! Stamping isa great way to craft, and the perfect tool for card making and scrapbooking. You can use stamps in such a variety of ways, and achieve amazing results. The best part about stamping is the ability to take  one stamp and create a variety of designs with the same stamp. For example, you could take a Hot Off The Press Butterfly stamp and create a soft pastel card using Versamark™ ink and chalks, or make a bold striking card using black ink and spectrum Noir “Brights” sets to color in those same butterflies. The possibilities are endless! WOW, what a fabulous set of tools stamps can be! As you can see, each stamp set comes with multiple stamps plus sweet sentiments…even the small stamps! Not only are they affordable, but they can be used over and over for many types of projects and occasions.

I’ll take you through some projects created by Gail Booth, Susan Cobb, LeNae Gerig, Teresa Welch and myself showing you several techniques with a few of Hot Off The Press Clear Acrylic Stamps! Here are all the stamps that I’ll be featuring – including Flower Small Stamp, Bee Happy Small Stamp Set, Dress Form Small Stamp Set and Janie’s Carousel Clear Acrylic Stamp Set.

Let’s start with Hot Off The Press Flower Small Stamp Have you ever thought of using a small stamp to fill up an entire 12×12 layout? With just one small stamp you can use several techniques to pull an entire layout together! This project, created by “yours truly” was made for Weekly Webisodes that airs each Wednesday on Paper Wishes.com. This webisode featured Hot Off The Press New 2014.

img7A4QSXTC

I used a masking technique plus an embossing technique to create an elegant black and white scrapbooking page! With the masking technique, I created a one-of-a-kind elegant floral frame to capture the beautiful prom photo. Using the same flower image, I stamped the flower in a straight line with Versamark™ ink, then applied white embossing powder to create a unique border that finished the page beautifully.  Did you notice the “photo corners” on the picture? So simple and added that finishing touch simply by stamping and embossing!

small stamp flower
For complete instruction you can click here.

This elegant card created by Gail features, Hot Off The Press’  Dress Form Small Stamp

There are a couple of techniques on this fabulous card including stamping the same image multiple times and paper piecing your stamped images. Such an elegant card that any best friend would love to receive it.

dress form

dress form 2

You make my world go round card, created by LeNae features Hot Off The Press’ Janie’s Carousel Stamp Set.  LeNae
combined Jewel Pearlescent Chalks along with Smooches inks to create a soft pastel look. Another fun technique LeNae featured was stamping, coloring and cutting parts of the stamped image out. Once you’ve done all that, simply apply your cut out parts and foam tape them to the tops of the images to create a 3-D effect.

carousel stamp

So many techniques on this card! I love it!! The inside of the card features stamping only half the image. Sounds strange, doesn’t it? But, look at the
results! I think inventive is the right way to describe how ingenious the technique is!

img
As you can see, stamping can be completely versatile! You can used it for card making, however you can see in this fabulous Scrapbooking page created by Teresa Welch, it can also be used for scrapbook pages.  Using the same stamp as LeNae used Teresa
created this page by stamping onto Stolen Moments patterned papers. This beautiful scrapbooking page was featured during WOW (Week of Webisodes) First Look that aired Jan 2014. If you’d like to take a peek click here!
010914project8a

And last but not least… Let’s take a look at this Bee Happy Small Stamp by Hot Off The Press! Down below I’ll show you a couple of projects that both used the Bee Happy Stamp, but again created two completely different looks along with more creative stamping techniques!

I used Copper Zing Embossing power on the Bee’s back. I used a Versamark™ Pen to color in the area and then applied the embossing powder. The Bee has a “Zing” to it! I also stamped the Bee image onto vellum paper and cut them out to create a fun 3-D effect.

bee 3

bee 1

 For complete instructions click here.

Cherish Yesterday Card created by Teresa, used almost the same technique as I did in the Bee Happy Card. Instead of applying embossing powder, she stamped the Bee onto patterned paper Chalkboard paper pack , and then stamped the image onto vellum, again creating the same 3-D effect. Just brilliant!

It’s amazing just how many different looks you can get with just one stamp! I hope you enjoyed today’s blog post, and I hope that I’ve inspired you with NEW stamping techniques or have inspired you to join the stamping fun! Try using one of these great techniques that we’ve shared, or create a new technique of your own!
