Merry Christmas from Paper Wishes!!!

Merry Christmas Eve!

Traditionally, Christmas is when people slow down to take some time for themselves, to rejuvenate and enjoy their families. But here at Paper Wishes, things have barely slowed. In fact, they haven’t slowed. With a new catalog coming soon, preparations to be made for the Craft & Hobby Association Mega Show in January, and some other BIG plans in the works that I probably can’t reveal yet, everyone here (and most of all, Paulette) is going 110%.

For us, sharing the love of papercrafting, and striving to continually offer new, different and wonderful products is what drives us. It’s the passion that lies at the core of what we do every day. But despite the work, here is just some of the Christmas fun that we’ve had over the past month!

We have squeezed some great times into a very busy month! I’d like to thank Paulette, and all my co-workers who have helped bring Christmas magic to Paper Wishes this year. And most importantly, I want to thank all of our Paper Wishers for the incredible creativity and kindness you’ve shown! You truly are the very best part of Paper Wishes!

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!

Winter’s Garden Cards from Teresa and Susan!

With Halloween now behind us, it feels safe to start delving into the holidays with a little Christmas cardmaking! Hot Off The Press’ 2015 Christmas Collection is called Winter’s Garden and it’s a fun, new look for Christmas! We’ve updated the traditional “Christmas red” by adding lime green, sky blue and chocolate, and I’m more than in love with the tiny holly pattern.

Here are two gorgeous cards from two of our top designers, Teresa Welch and Susan Cobb. These ladies are always creating inspiring projects, and I just had to share! Below, Teresa’s card makes use of Winter’s Garden Foil Paper Tole—a quick and easy route to a stunning focal! For a cleaner look, she’s used Winter’s Garden Die-Cuts on the inside. Don’t be afraid to mix and match the two!

Below, we have Susan’s card that also features Winter’s Garden Foil Paper Tole, and she has added sugared berries and a red blossom for even more impact! Both cards make use of Jewel Dazzles™, and these babies just make everything a little more special! They add bling to your projects (without the bump!) and really, you can’t have too many. 🙂

Susan’s Tip: I pulled apart clusters of the Green Sugared Berries and added them individually at the edges of the paper tole embellishment as 3-dimensional accents. Ink the gold Dazzles™ “Joy” with metallic silver ink and let dry before adding it to the round die-cut on the inside.

Supplies:

Notice that both of these ladies chose to use doilies in their card designs! This adds a really sweet, vintage touch to each of these cards, which pairs really nicely with that charming holly pattern! Click on any item below to see more detail:

Inspired enough yet? I know I am! I look forward to making Christmas cards each year, and having a coordinated set makes it so much easier for me! And do you see that giant red grosgrain?! Be still, my beating heart! Anyway, I think I’ve drooled enough for the time being. Hope you enjoyed these lovely cards as much as I have. Have you started on your Christmas cardmaking yet? Let me know!

Take care & have a great weekend!

Swirly Christmas Tree Card With Inka-Gold

Hello everyone! Today I wanted to show you an easy-yet-awesome Christmas card, just to (gently) get those holiday wheels turning… Because eventually, Christmas WILL be here (sorry for the shocker!) I love most things kraft, but you could just as easily stencil onto different cardstock or patterned paper to get the look you want. This card was created by our wonderful LeNae, who used Hot Off The Press’ brand new Swirly Christmas Tree Stencil. Take a look!

Designer’s Tip: Cover card with red Family Ties paper and ink edges of 4¾”x6¼” kraft cardstock black. Secure the Swirly Christmas Tree stencil with stencil tape and apply Mowed Lawn ink using the stylus and pad (or a cosmetic wedge). Apply Gold Inka-Gold randomly over the tree. Place the star/swirl at the top of the tree and apply Inka-Gold. Outline the swirl with gold glitter glue and add dots of glitter glue to the tree. Stencil a portion of the swirl on top corners with ink and Inka-Gold.

Supplies:

  • Family Ties Paper Pack (link)
  • Swirly Christmas Tree Stencil (link)
  • Mowed Lawn Distress Ink Pad (link)
  • Gold Inka-Gold (link)
  • Stickles™ Gold Glitter Glue (link)
  • Kraft Cardstock (link)
  • Black Ink Pad (link)
  • Stylus Handle & Pads (link)
  • Stencil Tape (link)
  • Glue Stick (link)
  • 5”x6 1/2” blank white card (link)

I really, really like this stencil! It’s perfect for your Christmas cards, and stenciling is so darn easy! Just add your ink, embossing paste, Inka-Gold or anything else (I’m sure you have something!) and it’s ready for you to embellish. Or just add a greeting—whatever look you choose, the beautiful, ornate design makes a really special focal!

Watch the webisode and join Paulette and Gail as they show exactly how to create this beautiful look!

Thank you for stopping by! Be sure to check in later this week for an inside look at one of my favorite, favorite employee events—Hot Off The Press’ Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest!

When I first saw these bangles – I was amazed with the work that our designers put into them. They used crystal stickers, smooch inks, metallic inks, embossing inks, Dazzles™, stamps, glaze and the list goes on and on.

You can put just about anything on these bangles and personalized them as well. A great little gift – to make for someone or even yourself! Come check out a couple of my favorites but, I found it very hard to pick just two!

Making jewelry isn’t something that I normally like to create. However this webisode gave me some great tips & inspiration to create some pieces as a gift set.  I love the colors of the patina and the images on the metal embossing plates are wonderful!

Another option is this beautiful Reversible Butterfly necklace. One side is embossed other side is debossed. Very Cool! And if you watch the webisode, Ann goes over some pretty cool techniques.
