LeNae & Michelle Explore A “Magic Kingdom!”

Somehow we’re (amazingly) already halfway through September! Next week we say goodbye to summer & hello to fall. This week LeNae wanted to document some of the summer fun that she had, so she headed out to the Paper Wishes warehouse to find the perfect scrapbook supplies—and I tagged along! Watch below to see what we found:

Wow! Who knew there were so many hidden treasures out there?! I can’t wait to go back for more! But in the meanwhile, here’s a peek at LeNae’s album cover and one of the layouts she created:

For the album cover, remove the posts and sheet protectors from the album. Lay it right side up and flat on a protected surface. Apply the surface of a “juicy” black ink pad directly onto the album (or you could cover with acrylic paint). Run a line of Tacky Glue along the back of the ribbon and place along the spine; let dry.

Use a pen knife to make a small cut through the ribbon where the post holes are located. Place the sheet protectors back in album and replace the posts.

To decorate the album, glue the 6”x6” Magic Kingdom Mickey banner paper onto red cardstock, leaving 3/8” borders. Glue to the album front. Glue the large die-cut ticket to the cover, and foam tape balloons and star die-cuts as shown. Write or print on the small ticket die-cuts; glue and foam tape to the lower right album corner.

Cut cardstock to 8”x8” and glue 6”x6” Magic Kingdom papers off-set as shown. Use Zots™ to secure the chipboard to the pages. Back the Dazzles™ onto white cardstock and cut out. Color Mickey Mouse Dazzles™ with markers.

Sounds easy, and what a fun look! This certainly makes me want to scrapbook some of our family’s summer adventures! If you love what LeNae’s created, you’re in luck because we’ve created a special-priced bundle just for you! Here’s what LeNae used:

It’s absolutely perfect for a trip to Disneyland or Disney World, and it’s also perfect for kids, grandkids and kids at heart! 🙂

Take care!

Paper Wishes Celebrates “Live Creative” Day!

September 14th is National Live Creative Day and we all know that creativity comes in many, many forms! The people who work at Paper Wishes are certainly a creative bunch, and their creativity is manifested in lots of ways beyond card making and papercrafting (although there’s lots of that too). I’d like to share with you some of the people I work with here at Paper Wishes, and the creative endeavors that they pursue!

LeNae is a member of our Design Team, and as of this September, she’s been at Paper Wishes for 22 years! She is all kinds of creative, and environmentally conscious as well. She felted an old wool sweater in hot water and sewed it into a very pretty tote bag!

Meet Melissa from Customer Service! Her customer service skills are surpassed only by her fabulous sense of humor and possibly her horsemanship! Here she is riding while wearing what’s been dubbed as the “Hel-hat!” Melissa created this striking helmet/hat combo to protect herself from falls as well as sunburn! Very creative!

Kelly is one of our wonderful, irreplaceable Warehouse Assistants, and she’s also an incredibly gifted quilter! Here are two of her latest projects—a couple of fall-themed mini quilts!

Brittany is our new Editor/Proofer and she probably has one of the most decorated offices here! She has created lots of rustic-yet-glittery art for her walls—here she is with one of her favorite, colorful accents!

You all know Gail from our webisodes, and she’s a true artist! Here are just two of the many drawings and illustrations she’s created.

The Christmas Tree is from a series of drawings she created for her family, and “Disconnected” is an illustration that was published in Perceptions, a local art & poetry publication. Here’s a closeup!

Next up is Cristina from Marketing! She uses her Silhouette Cameo to create amazing invitations, signs & more! Here’s one of her recent projects…

Victoria, another longtime member of the Paper Wishes team, creates our Paper Wishes catalogs, Personal Shopper newsletters and lots more! An avid spinner and knitter, she hand knitted this shawl from silk & wool yarn she spun herself—wow!!

And finally, here’s me! After photographing everybody else, I figured I’d better pony up with something too! Here are a couple of the cards I’ve had fun making recently!

AND I plan on making even more cards at Girlfriends Getaway on Sept. 17th! This year I’ll get to be there, along with my mom, to get in on the fun and hopefully provide a little behind-the-scenes coverage!

This is a sold-out event, but you can still craft along with us by ordering the 2016 Girlfriends Getaway Kit! The kit comes with everything you need to create the same projects we will make at Girlfriends Getaway PLUS you get Paulette’s DVD that guides you through step by step! There is a limited number of kits and soon you’ll be able to sign up to be notified when the kit becomes available so stay tuned! 😀

What will we be making at Girlfriends Getaway this year? I’m glad you asked because I have one more creative item to share with you! Susan from our Design Team came up with this fabulous clock (yes, a real clock!) that everyone who attends Girlfriends Getaway (or orders the kit) will have a chance to make—take a look!

I love this, and I can’t wait to create one at Girlfriends Getaway! I hope you enjoyed getting to meet some of the Paper Wishes team, and we hope that you will find a special way to celebrate National Live Creative Day! Let us know what you’ll be creating in the comments below—share a photo if you have one! We’d love to see!

Brighten Up With Our “Colorist” Collection!

The February sun is shining down on Hot Off The Press today, and I could’ve swore I felt the tiniest twitch of spring fever. Not full-blown-can’t-focus-must-clean-my-house spring fever. Just a pinch. Enough to remind me that, eventually, winter will give way to springtime.

To shake off some of the winter grays, I’m sharing our new Colorist Collection with you! The 12″x12″ paper pack features black and white outline artwork on one side, with vibrantly colored, dotted patterns on the other! These are some of the most versatile papers for papercrafters EVER! The black and white motif, contrasted against the bold colors and simple polka dots allows these papers to really travel through the seasons.

Below, Gail’s adorable easel card was covered with Colorist papers, and her framed robin focal (cut from the Feathered Friends Colorist book) was colored in with Spectrum Noir™ markers. I love how she used a ribbon bow to prop up her card front! And the floral background paper inside is so striking when left black and white! Click on the card for Gail’s supplies and instructions.

Susan’s card below features Colorist Scrapbooking Dazzles™ stickers, and I love the look of this card! For her greeting, she simply placed the Dazzles™ “Celebrate…” sticker onto matted Colorist papers. The flowers were made by placing Dazzles™ flower stickers onto Double-Sided Adhesive. She covered the adhesive with Crystal Micro Glitter, and backed the flowers with Colorist papers for beautiful sparkle and shine! Click her card for more details.

Here’s a scrapbook page that LeNae created using Colorist papers, Colorist Scrapbooking Dazzles™ and Colorist ribbon. You can color these papers any way you like. Use markers, colored pencils, chalk, ink, anything… and make it your own! 🙂

This last card easily makes my “Top 10” list—take a look! LeNae has covered a Center Step card with Colorist papers that she colored in with ArtGrip Watercolor Pencils. The focal is Florals for Colorists Paper Tole which is a quick and easy way to get a gorgeous, playful look like this! You can click on the card for supplies and instructions.

Super Spooky Halloween Card With Dazzles™ & Vellum + Trick or Treat Page!

It’s Friday! And I have to say, I’m SO ready for Halloween! For me, Halloween is like the big kickoff to the whole holiday season! So to get in the spirit, here are a couple hauntingly creative project ideas—a card and a page. I couldn’t bring myself to choose between them, so you get both! These projects use Halloween papers from Hot Off The Press, which feature a really fun mix of spooky themes and patterns.

halloweenpapers

The card you see was designed by Susan, and I just think it’s awesome. Backing her Spooky Dazzles™ cobwebs with vellum is so clever! The other cool thing Susan did was chalk her background text and flourishes papers with orange to get the exact look she desired.

Designer’s Tip: Back the Spooky Dazzles™ spider webs with white vellum, and then burnish the back of the vellum inside the Dazzles™ with the stylus against the foam pad for a 3-dimensional look. Add pieces of 3-D Zots™ to the back of each piece to hold the shape.

Supplies:

  • Halloween Papers (link)
  • 1 White Vellum Sheet (link)
  • Spooky Dazzles™ (link)
  • Silver Jewel Dazzles™ (link)

  • 3D Zots™ adhesive dots (link)
  • Black ink pad (link)
  • Glue stick (link)
  • Craft pen knife (link)
  • Foam pad or mouse pad

The other project I chose is this scrapbook page from LeNae, and really, it’s pretty amazing how she created such great visual impact from relatively simple supplies, like black ink, Halloween papers and Spooky Dazzles™ stickers!

Designer’s Tip: Embellish photo surfaces with Spooky Dazzles™, placing them along the tops and corners. Add spiders climbing around!

  • Fine tip black pen (link) or computer printer

The long, vertical rectangles are a fun backdrop to your favorite Halloween pictures—in fact, I’d like to create my own version of this page sometime (if my girls would all hold still for the camera)! Are you doing any fun Halloween or harvest season papercraft projects? Share a picture or tell me about it in the comments below!

Have a wonderful weekend!
