Garden Walk Cardmaking

Hello everyone! I love this time of year when I can share more new and wonderful paper packs with you! Today is Garden Walk! These papers are inspired by botanical gardens, but the colors are also perfect for the fall season.

This first card features the Penny Black Serenity & Peace tree and Believe dies which are both so versatile.

The 4″ Round Paper Doily is easily customized by inking the edge with bronze ink from Basics Cat’s Eye® Queue® Ink Pads.

Die cut the Serenity & Peace tree from Double Sided Adhesive and place it over the doily.

After removing the backing I sprinkled Gemstones Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Flakes over the adhesive and then used Scoochy Foam square to burnish off the excess flake. Don’t waste it! Return the excess flakes to the jar and use it again.

Cut the Penny Black Believe die from black cardstock and glue over the trunk of the tree.

For a completely different look I paired the Garden Walk Papers and Ribbon Set with the Prima Princess Collection Stella Stamp and Penny Black Vine Borders Cutting Dies.

After stamping the image with Black Memento Ink, I used FS7 from Pastels Spectrum Noir™ Pen Set to outline areas on the face and body.

Next I colored the skin with FS4, blending the darker shade with the light.

If coloring stamps with skin tones intimidates you, then consider spot coloring the image, omitting the skin tones and focusing on the flowers.

When coloring the flowers, I continued to use Pastels Spectrum Noir™ Pen Set as well as Purple and Pink Spectrum Noir™ Pen Sets. Once cut out I can easily substitute this spot colored image for the fully colored one on my card.

Thanks for joining me today. Remember to make some time during the week to craft something pretty. Happy Crafting!

Beautiful Paper Painting Papers

Hello everyone! I have more beautiful new papers to share with you today!

Paper Painting Paper Pack is a vibrant paper pack filled with colorful flowers and butterflies.

Gail made this amazing page using the coordinating Paper Painting Scrapbooking Dazzles™ Stickers, Ribbon Set, Teal flower and Buttons Galore Fiesta Buttons collection. I love how Gail framed her photo using a large circle using the Easy Circles Template and curved the Dazzles™ Sticker words along the edge.

When I used Pink and Green Spectrum Noir™ Pen Sets to color the Penny Black Awaken Stamp I was pleased at how the vibrant colors in the Paper Painting Papers really made the image pop! I added an aqua bow from the coordinating Paper Painting Ribbon Set and a cheerful greeting from Everyday Greetings Dazzles™ Stickers to complete this card.

Gail made this beautiful poppy card using Layering Poppies Stamp Set and Pink and Yellow/Green Cat’s Eye Queue Ink Pad Sets. Using the Tim Holtz Stamp Platform makes putting this card together a snap!

Stamp the background image onto ivory cardstock using medium pink ink. The magnets are handy to keep things in place while you stamp.

Align the next layer of the poppy directly over the first stamped background image.

Close the Stamping Platform cover to adhere the stamp.

Open the cover,  apply magenta ink, and stamp the image.

Finally, stamp the last poppy layer with dark pink ink as you did for the previous layers.

After stamping the leaves with 2 shades of green ink, add dots of  Stickles™ Gold Glitter Glue to the flower center for sparkle!

For more inspiration using the Paper Painting Collection, check out the September 6, 2017 Webisode. The Layering Poppies Stamp Set will be featured on September 13.

Thanks for stopping by and make sure to leave a little time in your life to make something pretty. Happy Crafting!

Paper Crafts For Your Home

Hi everyone, I’m so excited to show you some 3-D paper crafts that make adorable home decor and great gifts!

These little garden boxes of succulents and cacti were easy and fun to make! I used Sizzix Thinlits Succulents 2-D & 3-D Die Set and cut the shapes from green, aqua, gray and lavender Pastel Cardstock, curved the petal by wrapping each around a pencil and then inked the edges purple, green, dark pink and aqua before assembling.

I glued floral foam (from my local dollar store) into large and medium size Tim Holtz Idea-ology Vignette Boxes and tucked Spanish Moss (dollar store again) around the edges.

For additional dimension, I placed dots of Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew on the round cactus sections and let dry. I followed the manufacturer’s instructions for assembling the 3-D pieces and hot glued them directly to the foam. I Tucked moss among the pieces to cover the foam, use Twilight Jewels sheer purple dot ribbon to make a bow for each box and glue, as shown.

To make a “Welcome” wall hanging I covered a chipboard “W” with barn wood Seaside Paper. I used Timber Brown StazOn™ Ink along the letter edges and bottom half of the Galvanized Metal Welcome Sign and hot glued the sign across the letter. I hot glued a cluster of paper succulents and moss to the bottom left, a single succulent and moss to the top right, and a tiny succulent overlapping the “Welcome” sign. I made a loopy bow from brown Seaside Ribbon Set and glue it to the top left side of the succulent. Place a Clear Self-Adhesive Hanger on the top back of the on the “W” center.

This 3-D hydrangea card includes a canning jar vase from Well Preserved Stamp Set, Garden Notes Hydrangea Cutting Die Set Inside/Outside Greetings Dazzles™ Stickers and Romantique Paper Pack  & Ribbon Set.

I cut the individual blossoms from both pink and light blue Romantique papers and inked each using a Pink Ink Pad. I used a stylus to gently curve the blossom petals and then glued them in a tight cluster, as shown. Glue a pink seed bead, from Pretty Princess Embellishment Bottle, to the centers of random blossoms. Die cut the leaves and stems from green Romantique Paper and ink edges with a green ink pad. To see this process, check out the Elizabeth Craft Weekly Webisode, which will air tomorrow!

Thanks for stopping by and remember to set aside some time during these long summer evenings to make something special! Happy crafting!

Pop It Up

Hello everyone! With two birthday parties to attend this week, I have birthday cards on my mind. That’s why I was so happy to have 2 new Stampendous Cutting Dies cross my desk yesterday!

The first is Fran’s Pop-Up Die Set which paired well with Pretty Poppies Cling Rubber Stamp Set and Pretty Poppies Cutting Die Set.

CARD FRONT

I created a custom card size by folding 5″x11″ lavender Pastel Cardstock in half and lining with both purple swirl paper from Bohemian Dreams Paper Pack and 4″x10″ teal Pastel Cardstock that I die cut with Fran’s Pop-Up Die Set.

INSIDE

I colored the poppies with Purple and Yellow Spectrum Noir ™Pen Sets and the vase with Green and Turquoise Spectrum Noir™ Pen Sets. I glued the vase to the bottom pop-up and blossoms to the tabs above.

I Colored the leaves with  Green Spectrum Noir™ Pens and glued them to the card back, among the blossoms. Then I added Card Greetings Dazzles™ Stickers and some sparkle with Mixed Berry Sequin Tin.

Here is a great video from Stampendous:

Want even more Pop-Up options? Fran’s Pop’cessories Die Set is packed with more tools to make Pop-Ups, Boxes, Bobblers, Stands and Hinges.

This cute Pop-Up Box fits perfectly into a 5″x6 1/2″ card, covered with Hopscotch Paper Pack. I colored the lion Party Animals Dazzles™ Sticker with Yellow, Red and Turquoise Spectrum Noir™ Pens.

Fran’s Pop’cessories Die Set also includes a Hinge feature that allows for images to be mounted inside of the Pop-Up Box.

There is also a cutting die to make a stand for images. How cute to make place cards and party decorations!

Here is another great Stampendous video:

I recommend checking out both of these Stampendous Cutting Dies! They make creating fun Pop-Up cards easy. Happy crafting!

Gorgeous! These are pretty much the perfect marker. The brush tip allows you to seamlessly add color to larger areas, while the super fine tip lets you fill in those tiny, detailed spots that many of today’s coloring books have. And obviously they’re perfect for coloring in your stamped images as well.

These are an amazing addition to your marker collection, and we especially love them for coloring the details of our stamped images! Just be sure to use a waterbased dye ink such a Memento™.

Stamping How To: Paper-Pieced Lacy Things Card

This gorgeous card was designed by Susan Cobb, our lead in-house designer. In her instructions, she shows you how to create a flawless, paper-pieced stamped focal using Hot Off The Press’ Lacy Things stamp set. Stamping on patterned paper provides an extra rich look, and the butterfly also has dimension provided by foam tape placed between the layers. I love that she chose black ink too—what a striking contrast! Who says lace has to be white?! 😀

Just a little inspiration for World Card Making Day which is tomorrow, October 3rd! Click on the link to learn more about how you can win a Paper Wishes® gift certificate just by making a card!

042015project1

Susan’s Tip: Stamp the butterfly image on 3 different patterned papers, then cut out different portions of the butterfly from each paper. Foam tape the pieces together for a beautiful paper pieced effect.

Supplies:

Instructions:

Front: Place your blank card with the fold on the left. Ink the outer 1/4″ of the card with black ink all the way around the card front. Cut 4 7/8”x6 3/8” Roses & Lace green border paper with the roses corner at the top left corner. Glue it centered. Stamp the lace border on Roses & Lace dark pink textured paper with black ink. Trim around the edges and foam tape it across the card, even with the bottom. Stamp the small swirl/lace image on the upper right corner of the card.

Stamp “WISHING YOU A Beautiful DAY” on Roses & Lace light green textured paper. Place the Design Tool Kit #7 Beveled Label centered over the words and trace the shape with a pencil. Remove the template and cut out the shape. Ink the edges and mat on dark pink textured paper with 1/16” borders. Glue on the card, 1/8” from the right side and 1 1/4″ from the bottom.

Stamp the large butterfly image twice on Roses & Lace pink textured paper, and once each on Roses & Lace dark pink and light green textured papers. Trim around one pink butterfly (cut off the antennae), even with the edges of the image. Cut out the center portion of the light green butterfly including the body. Foam tape it centered on the pink butterfly. Trim around the center of the dark pink butterfly with body and foam tape on the light green area as shown. Finally, trim around the center of the second pink butterfly (with body) and foam tape in place. Position the butterfly angled on the upper left side of the card, overlapping the words label as shown, to check for spacing. Use the pencil to mark the paper just above the head of the butterfly. Clean your large butterfly stamp. Cover the image, except for the antennae, with cellophane tape or sticky notes. Ink the stamp, quickly remove the tape or sticky notes, then stamp the antennae with the base on the pencil mark. Glue the paper-pieced butterfly on the card, aligned with the stamped antennae. Repeat the stamping and paper piecing process for the small butterfly image, using pink paper for the base, light green for the center, and dark pink for the bottom center. Position the small butterfly overlapping the upper right edge of the words label.

Use 1/8” wide green grosgrain ribbon to tie a bow. Zot™ the bow on the lower left edge of the words label. Embellish the stamped images, label, and background paper with Silver Jewel Dazzles™.

Beautiful! I hope this has you feeling as inspired as I do! Click the image below for all the details about our World Card Making Day Challenge! I wish you all a beautiful and creative weekend! 🙂
