Default Structures & Styles - Patchwork piecing

A "Style" challenge for this one:
Use an edge to edge (no layering) patchwork piece in your project
Must have a minimum of 8 pieces
An Autumn or Winter color/theme/occasion (we're finally fix'n to cool back off this weekend up here in the foothills - whoop whoop!)
Use at least 1 product available from Paper Wishes (duh?).

tips - piecing against a grid sure makes things easier, as does using a cutting die. (1 and 2) the rest are samples.

...I made a panel using 1" squares for the three cards.
You can choose to go with any basic shape/size to match your project.

PS - the bears are for your RAK project LINDA!! my last batch was decidedly feminine.

I should be able to get to this next week. No playtime this weekend, but I actually have a TON of 1" squares already cut out. Hmmm Hmmm thinking... will be fun when I finally get to it.

As long as the pieces meet "edge to edge". Believe my answer, therefore, is yes. Just NOT looking for/accepting an "applique" or "inlay" look.

Are sunburst or starburst patterns acceptable? No layering of course.

Hopefully someone will make this thread "sticky" so it's easier to find. This looks like fun, Lee! I've seen several of yours using this technique that look really nice (including your samples here!). I'm going to put my "thinking cap" on!

Default A Sympathy Card

Okay, so I've been thinking about this challenge and looking at the scraps on my desk from recent projects - most posted here:
And one that I think was just posted on my blog
I decided to focus on the ORIGINAL purpose of patchwork - to make something useful of leftover scraps. I simply used the scraps that were still lying on my table - left over from my most recent projects. This meant that my pieces are not all the same size - and also not all from PW because of what I had been working with most recently. PW items are the blue glimmer paper, and one of the solid purple papers. (Card base also came from them!)
  1. I looked at my scraps and realized some were pretty short. Measuring the various short ones, I decided to cut my pieces 1 1/2" tall - leaving them varying widths because most were the "trimmings" from something used on a card.
  2. After cutting my pieces, I decided I needed an easy way to glue them together. I cut a piece of white card stock (4 3/4" x 6 1/4") for my base, covered it with double-sided adhesive and went to work.
  3. After I got my first 1 1/2" row completed, I realized I better see how many rows would fit on my base. I realized I could do 2 more rows, but would have 1/4" or so not covered. So, I found a couple more scraps that just happened to be about 1/8" wide and placed one between each row - fit just about perfectly. You should be able to see this in the first picture below. I knew my focal would cover some of this and it was so pretty I wanted you to see it whole!
  4. The next picture shows the front of the completed card - some elements on foam tape, most from Heartfelt Creations Woodsy Wonderland, but dark purple mat is purple glimmer paper embossed with an embossing folder.
  5. The last picture is the inside of my card. You can see I added a row of similar patchwork at the bottom. These strips are only 1" tall as that was a tall as some of my remaining pieces.
