Default Styles & Structures - Acetate Stepper

Adorable Scorable scattered throughout the station and I had a brain fart with my caffeine and nicotine this morning. Just HAD to put together this prototype first thing....

Begins Aug 1st
Do as I say (write) - as I did a bit of tweaking along the way.

Finished Card: 6 1/2 x 4 1/2 ...if you'd like to do the PW std of 6.5x 5 - just sub in the 5" width everywhere I use 4 1/2...
Structure Elements:

Stepper (med weight cstk/heavy paper works) 4 1/2 x ~12
score at 1" (bottom), 2", 4", 5 and 10 1/2 (remaining is for top fold over, so don't cut off until you're sure of edging on front). Crease as show in photo 2

Back (HEAVY Crd stk-this is literally the spine of your card - if it's wimpy your card will be also) 6 1/2 x 4 1/2 - score bottom (DO NOT CREASE) at 2"

Acetate ~6 3/8 x 4 1/2 I used HDs snowfall acetate- BUT opportunity to have some fun - dry emboss, stamp & color, print, heat emboss your acetate to match your card.

Decorative bits- cover the exposed steps (I chopped up a page out of an HD Little Book), front edgings (cover acetate glues/tapes) and back - which pretty much represents the interior of a normal card.

1) Make all your foundation pieces - photos 1 and 2

2) photo 3... be aware of what is going to 'show' on your stepper piece (if I were to do it again, I would move the largest panel down a smidge). Get everything placed. Crease everything again - really good crease. Size (and edge) the fold over piece at the top - leaving at least a 1/2" for the front of your card.

3) Decorate the back of the back cstk (hahaha, I didn't stutter). Attach to the back (don't cross any score lines) of the stepper piece. photo 4 *** the score is a modification to the photo - your score line will be higher up on the card.

4) With your stepper all folded up flat - layer the acetate on the front attaching at the bottom first- then almost to the top. I used double sided tape.

5) embellish front - covering glue/tape.

The score on the back will have it display upright - so give it a little bend until it's how you'd like to see it.

Here's a little T&T anytime you have an accordion fold that wants to flatten out.

Make an "M Spacer" ..... just like it sounds/looks - tuck into the fold and your accordion cannot 'flatten' any farther than the spacer. It's just a safe add-on for this card - as time and gravity will take their toll on the displayability of this structure.

The first time I looked at this, I totally missed the acetate. Coming back through to look in more detail, I saw the title & looked a little closer. VERY NICE!!!! Love it! Thanks also for the "M" spacer idea.

Great timing - this is a beautiful card, and may be just the thing I need for some "special" cards I need to make by 8/1

I made a couple of those a long time ago. Will have to watch your video and see how to do it again!
