Ruth, you can do this technique with regular embossing powder - the flower card was done with it using 5 coats.

Robin, it isn't my favorite look either, but it is another technique and some stamps, IMHO, look better this way or really distressed.

Default Jan Wk 4 'Cracked' Tech Challenge

This was a new technique for me but I must say it was fun to see it take shape and definitely different. I used: 3 Lacy Labels die embossed with Shabby Pink Embossing Enamel, Sweet Tweets & Birthday Greetings stamp sets and I covered the brad with a pink jewel flower dazzle. I did use regular fine ep 5 times to get the crack on the focal piece. I think I will get some UTEE for future projects.

Nice Karen! My favorite part is the cracking! I can get carried away and lose pieces of the coating - but I still crack away!

Here's mine. I used Nature's Watercolors paper pack, "Hello there!" from Cute Monkey stamp, Timber Brown StazOn ink, Butterfly Garden die-cuts, clear embossing powder (needed to use versa mark & ep X 5 on focal image), markers & woman stamp (purchased from PW).

I have done this technique before and it makes beautiful projects. I have to admit it is a little trying for me because I want instant gratification and it's hard to repeat the steps over and over and then wait for it to come from the freezer!!
Great projects!!!
God bless

Rhonda, I love it! That's a great stamp and I love the corners - look like little hearts. Thanks for playing!

Karen, That is really pretty, I like the way you mounted the focal so it stands out from the card.

Rhonda, Great job with the cracking and distressing. I like your color choice.

Bootsie: Your card looks great. I'm going to give this a try tomorrow (Saturday). I'm hoping to spend some time crafting - it has been awhile.
