Default February Week 4 Challenge - due March 1

This week's challenge is paper weaving. I mentioned earlier on another thread that Rhonda and Fab had posted Scandinavian Hearts and that I would be using that for my challenge - so as announced - here you go!

Like many of you, I am a template lover and Scandinavian Hearts is one of my favorites - quick, easy, and looks great! Paper weaving doesn't need a template though, the simple "over, under, over" works well too.

I also decided that I wanted to follow along with the other 3 challenges from this month, so I was hoping to have a sample using the week 1 sketch, week 2 colors and week 3 paper tearing. That didn't work so well , so I have 3 different samples to show you of paper weaving. All 3 use this month's colors of pink, green and gray. I wasn't sure I liked the combo, but it grew on me. My papers all came from Plain Pastels, Pastel Prints and Teresa's Muted Solids, all have been discontinued - sorry!

The first sample is the smaller Scandinavian Heart matted on a circle die and using the Love die. I ran the gray paper through a script embossing folder.

The second card uses the larger Scandinavian Heart and paper tearing. I'm not real comfortable with tearing and I went through 2 12x12 gray papers until I was happy. I kept it simple by adding just a few sequins.

The third card uses basic paper weaving. I cut the pink and green strips 1/2 inch and the gray strips 1/4 inch wide and weaved them as seen in the card. I then created a card using the week 1 sketch for the design. The white flowers come from my stash, but if you look close you can see some pink feathers from the pink Artsy Additions pack.

Give paper weaving a whirl! To be eligible for the monthly prize, you must post your paper crafting project on this thread by midnight EST on March 1. As always the majority of your supplies must come from Paper Wishes. Discontinued items are fine to use as are other brand products you can purchase on the PW website.

Have fun and I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Please post whenever you get the chance! The challenges never "close", just eligibility for the gift certificate. I'd love to see what you come up with - whenever you do!

Daria, I was getting so lonely - thanks for joining me! I had to look twice to find the weaving - it fit so perfectly into the design of your lovely card! Your card reminds me why I love paper packs - everything goes together, the addition of the flowers along the left side of your card are the perfect touch!

Default Feb week 4

Well, I had lots of great ideas, but all I have accomplished thus far is this card. Materials I used:
Spun sugar ACK & Satin Ribbon
Iris Folding template
Warm colors 6x6 paper pad
Heartfelt Greetings Stamps
Timber Brown Stazon
Feel Better dazzles

I wove a square of the pp. I used the iris template to cut the heart shape as a frame from the beige striped paper. Used marker to make stitches.

Fun challenge Penny! I thought we had to use the same three colors you did, so that put me off for a while, but I re read the challenge and went to town.
