“Just a Note...” — By Laura Nicholas

Designer Tip: You don't need a reason to give a handmade card! Send anytime greetings with this special card, just to say “hello”. Neutral colors and subtle distressing techniques make this card perfect for any friend or loved one.

Supplies:

Instructions:
For the Card Front:

  1. Place the card with the fold on the left and cover the card front with tan dotted paper. Glue a 1"x6 1/2" piece of green striped paper (stripes running horizontally) even with the right edge of the card front. Sand the edges of the “Just a note...” border cut-out, then cut one “Just a note...” saying from the border and set aside for later. Glue the remaining border overlapping the seams between the dotted and striped papers, then sand all the edges of the card front.
  2. Sand the edges of a 2 3/4" square of dark green textured paper and glue centered over the tan portion of the card front. Fold the green striped file folder in half and glue the back of the folder at an angle over the dark green square.
  3. Computer journal “hello” on the green striped tag and “hey there...” on the green textured tag. Ink the edges of the “hey there...” tag, then sand the edges of both tags. Use foam tape to attach the tags at varying angles with the bottom edges tucked slightly inside the top of the file folder. Use a Zot™ to attach a knotted length of green woven ribbon over the tab on the “hey there...” tag.
  4. Computer journal “hi!” on the light green tag and ink the edges. Punch a hole in the tag's tab and run a length of green woven ribbon through. Punch a hole in the top right corner of the front of the file folder, run the ribbon length through, then knot the tails of the ribbon length. Glue the file folder closed and secure the “hi!” tag over the card front with foam tape. Recall the remaining “Just a note...” border from step 1 and glue it over the front of the file folder.

For the Card Inside:

  1. Ink the edges of a 2 3/4"x1 3/4" piece of dark green textured paper and glue centered over the top portion of the card inside. Ink the edges of the tan dotted oval cut-out and glue centered over the dark green paper.
  2. Ink the edges of the “hello” ribbon fragment cut-out and foam tape it centered over the oval cut-out. Use a Zot™ to attach a knotted length of green woven ribbon over the left end of the ribbon fragment.
