Happy Holidays Cards — By: Paris Dukes

Pinwheels, ribbons and a fabric sticker add loads of dimension and texture to this festive holiday card–it’s perfect for anyone on your list!

Supplies:

Instructions

For the Front of the Card:
  1. With the card fold on the left, cover the front of the card with burgundy “Happy Holidays” paper. Cut a 5”x2 1/2” piece of burgundy textured paper and glue it over the “Happy Holidays” paper, flush with the bottom edge of the card, leaving the left and right edges unglued. Ink the edges of the card front with gold.
  2. Mat the fabric sticker on burgundy textured paper, then trim the mat to 1/8” and ink the edges with gold. Cut a 2” length of burgundy grosgrain ribbon and fold it in half. Secure the tails on the back of the matted quote so the folded ribbon extends from the right edge. Use one gold mini brad to attach one small gold pinwheel to the right end of the quote mat, just over the folded ribbon. Assemble one glassine envelope and glue it centered on the card front. Glue the quote at an angle on the card front with one corner tucked inside the top of the envelope.
  3. Cut a 6” length of burgundy grosgrain ribbon and lay it across the front of the card, covering the seam between the two burgundy papers and crossing over the front of the glassine envelope. Tuck the ends of the ribbon under the edges of the burgundy textured paper and glue down the edges of the paper. Add one gold mini brad and one small gold pinwheel to each end of the ribbon length.
  4. Cut out the small burgundy tree and candle tag and ink the edges with gold. Add one gold mini brad and one small gold pinwheel to the top of the tag. Cut a 1 1/2” length of burgundy grosgrain ribbon and loop it just right of center around the ribbon strip that extends across the card front.  Place a piece of foam mounting tape on the back of the tag, then adhere the tag over the loose tails of the looped grosgrain ribbon so the loop extends from the top of the tag.

For the Inside of th Carde:

  1. Cut a 2 1/2”x6 1/2” strip of burgundy “Happy Holidays” paper, then ink the left and right edges with gold and glue centered down the inside of the card. Cut out the “Happy Holidays” tag and ink the edges with gold, then add one gold mini brad to the top of the tag. Glue the tag at an angle over the center of the “Happy Holidays” paper strip.
