Precious Boy — By: Susan Cobb

Supplies:

Designer Tip: Susan chose a bright, primary color scheme and geometric patterns for this eye-catching layout, just perfect for little boys!

Instructions

  1. Place the blue paper with the circles border on the left. Mat a 5" square photo on lime textured paper and trim the mat to 3/4". Glue a length of blue grosgrain ribbon even with the right edge of the mat, trimming any excess ribbon even with the top and bottom edges of the mat. Use a black pen to add penwork around the remaining three edges of the mat. Mat the photo again on orange textured paper, trim the mat to 1/8" and glue over the blue portion of the background.
  2. Foam tape alphabet tiles down the ribbon length to spell “boy”, then add a yellow mini brad to the bottom end of the ribbon length. Tie 8" of blue grosgrain ribbon into a shoestring bow and attach it at the top of the ribbon length. Add a yellow mini brad to the left end of the “precious” cut-out, then use foam tape to attach it at an angle, just under the bow.
  3. Add penwork across the top and bottom edges of the yellow portion of the striped tile cut-out. Add a yellow, orange and lime green mini brad across the top of the yellow portion, then foam tape an alphabet tile (representing the second letter of the subject's name) below. Glue the tile overlapping the bottom edge of the photo mats, aligning the penwork on the tile with the penwork on the mat. Use a black pen to write the rest of the subject's name to the left and right of the monogram. (Tip: You can also use alphabet stamps or rub-on letters for the rest of the subject's name.)
  4. Computer journal onto lime textured paper, crop to a long strip and add penwork around the edges. Mat the journaling on orange cardstock and trim the mat to 1/8". Fold a 2" length of blue grosgrain ribbon in half and tape the loose ends behind the left end of the matted journaling strip. Glue the journaling across the bottom of the page, then add a yellow mini brad over the folded ribbon.
