A Few of My Favorite Things — By: Susan Cobb

Supplies:

Designer Tip: Citrus colors and stylish florals give an ultra-tropical feel to this layout, while ribbons, silk flowers and fun felt accents make it pop with texture!

Instructions

  1. Place a sheet of lime paper with the striped border at the bottom. Mat a 9 1/2"x7 1/4" piece of teal texture paper on white cardstock and trim to 1/16". Wrap lime stitched ribbon along the left edge and tape the tails to the back of the cardstock. Glue the paper centered on the lime portion of the background.
  2. Mat a 7"x5" photo on orange texture paper, trim to 1/8" and sand the edges. Mat the right edge again on citrus striped paper (stripes running horizontally) and trim to 5/8". Glue the photo toward the upper right corner of the matted teal paper.
  3. Use brads and mini brads to attach a 7 1/4"-long piece of felt ribbon between the lime ribbon length and the left edge of the photo.
  4. Sand the edges of a monogram representing the photo subject’s first initial, then attach the monogram overlapping the top right edge of the teal paper with a mini brad. Write the rest of the subject’s name to the right of the monogram.
  5. Zot™ knots of five different ribbons along the right side of the teal paper. Layer green and yellow silk flowers and place them over the bottom right corner of the teal paper. Cut one flower off the felt ribbon and layer it in the center of the flowers, then attach all layers to the page with a brad in the center.
  6. Computer journal “A few of my favorite things” plus a horizontal block on white cardstock. Mat each separately on orange texture paper, trim each mat to 1/8" and sand the edges. Fold a short length of yellow ribbon in half and tape the loose ends behind the left side of the “favorite things” title. Glue the title to the teal paper, centered below the photo. Glue the other journaling block below the teal paper and add two mini brads to the bottom right corner. Sand the edges of a blue bracket punch-out and attach it to the left of the journaling block with a mini brad.
