Supplies:

Designer Tip: Head back to school in style with this cool double-page spread! Rugged alphabet stamps, ribbons, twill and printed graffiti paper add tons of fabulous texture to the layout, and check out the unique dimension created by the clear vinyl word blocks!

Instructions
Left Page

  1. Ink the edges of one sheet of yellow lined paper to use as the background. Cut and ink the edges of a 4"x12" strip of school graffiti paper, then glue even with the left edge of the page. Add the vinyl "knowledge" border down the right edge of the school graffiti strip with a red mini brad in each end.
  2. Mat a vertical photo on white cardstock, trimming the mat to 1/16". Mat again on black cardstock, trimming the mat to 1/4". Wrap a length of alphabet twill around the bottom of the photo, then glue the photo in the top portion of the yellow lined portion of the background. Add the "school days" vinyl tag to the right side of the photo by looping the ball chain around the alphabet twill, then use a Glue Dot™ to secure the tag in place. Tie a length of black/white gingham ribbon into a shoestring bow around the ball chain. Ink the edges of the "activities, recess" word block, then staple above the top left corner of the photo.
  3. Use alphabet sponge stamps and black paint to add the letters "abc" centered below the photo.
  4. Computer journal onto white cardstock and crop to a vertical rectangle with about 1/2" of extra space along the top, then ink the edges black. Fold over 1/4" of the extra space above the journaling and staple in place. Glue the journaling at an angle over the top portion of the school graffiti strip. Knot a length of black/white gingham ribbon around a red paper clip and add the clip around the left side of the page, over the journaling.

Right Page

  1. Ink the edges of the second sheet of yellow lined paper to use as the background. Line the back of the remaining vinyl word block with school graffiti paper, attaching it with a staple in each corner of the word block. Ink the edges black, then glue over the right side of the page. Knot a length of gingham ribbon around a red paper clip and add the clip to the right side of the word block.
  2. Mat three 2"x3 1/4" photos on black cardstock, trimming the mats to 1/16". Staple the photos across the top of the page, aligning the tops of the photos with the top of the word block. Use a black pen to journal the names above the photos.
  3. Mat a horizontal photo on black cardstock, trim the mat to 1/16" and add three staples down the left side. Knot a length of alphabet twill, then wrap the twill down the right side of the photo and add a red mini brad to each end. Glue the photo over the bottom of the page, centered under the three photos along the top of the page.
  4. Use number sponge stamps and black paint to stamp the year across the page, between the photos.
