Supplies:

Designer Tip: Journal your child’s or your own holiday wish list to include on this chic layout. Perfect for holiday and birthday pages, this journaling recipe ensures you’ll remember favorite trends, interests and fads for years to come!

Instructions

  1. Use the green and brown color block paper with the large wire border and large text section as the background, orienting the paper with the wire border on the right side. Mat a 5”x7” photo on grey cardstock, trimming the mat to 1/16”. Mat again on light brown cardstock, then trim the mat to 1/4” and ink the edges with black. Cut a 4” length of ivory grosgrain ribbon and use alphabet stamps to stamp the name across it. Lay the ribbon length diagonally over the top left corner of the photo and wrap the ends around the edges of the photo mat and secure on the back. Glue the matted photo over the brown burlap and ivory text sections of the background paper.
  2. Crop a photo to a 2” square and mat on grey cardstock, then trim the mat to 1/16” and ink the edges with black.  Mat again on the text portion from the other sheet of color block paper, then trim the mat to 1/4” and ink the edges with black. Tuck the bottom right corner of the square photo under the ribbon that extends across the corner of the large photo and glue in place.
  3. Use the template to trace the large library card holder onto the brown burlap portion of the other sheet of color block paper, then cut out. Line the inside of the library card holder with the burgundy floral portion of the other sheet of color block paper, then ink all the edges with black and fold into shape. Cut a 4 1/2” length of ivory grosgrain ribbon and use alphabet stamps to stamp the phrase “These are a few” onto the ribbon. Lay the stamped ribbon at an angle across the top of the library card holder, then wrap the ends around the edges of the library card holder and secure on the back. Add one antique mini brad to the left end of the ribbon length. Cut a 4 1/2” length of “favorite things” twill and lay it at an angle across the bottom of the library card holder, then wrap the ends around the edges and secure on the back. Add one antique mini brad to each end of the twill. Use alphabet stamps to stamp the phrase “of my” between the ribbon and twill lengths, then stamp the year in the bottom right corner of the library card holder. Attach the library card holder at an angle in the bottom right corner of the page, slightly overlapping the photo.
  4. Computer journal the wish list onto white cardstock, then crop to fit in the library card holder and ink the edges with black. Punch a 5/16” hole out of light brown cardstock and glue to the top of the journaling tag. Punch a 1/8” hole in the center of the 5/16” circle to create a hole through the top of the tag. Cut a length of “favorite things” twill with the phrase repeating twice and run the twill through the hole in the top of the tag. Fold over the twill and staple the halves together just above the top of the tag. Place the journaling tag in the library card holder.
