Instructions:
For the Left Page:
- Use the blue and red stripe paper as the background. Cut an 8 1/4”x6
1/4” piece of white cardstock and mat it onto blueberry cardstock,
trimming the mat to 1/8”. Mat the large photo on blueberry cardstock,
trimming the mat to 1/16”. Glue the matted photo on the left side
of the white cardstock mat using a glue stick. Add the large words frame
to the smaller photo and trim the photo even with the edges of the frame.
Cut a 2” strip of blue and white gingham ribbon and fold it over,
then secure the ends under the right side of the frame. Secure the framed
photo in the top right corner of the white mat.
- Cut apart the vinyl tag into separate words. Ink the edges of all
of the words with black; let dry. Cut a 2 1/4” strip of ribbon
words and attach it horizontally on blueberry cardstock, trimming the
top and bottom of the mat to 1/16” and the left and right sides
to 1/4”. Cut a 3” strip of blue and white gingham ribbon
and tie a knot in the center. Attach the knot to the left side of the
ribbon strip mat with a Glue Dot™. Arrange the matted ribbon strip,
vinyl tag word strips and silver star brads throughout the white mat
as shown, then secure with a glue stick. Glue the whole mat in the upper
center of the background paper.
- Punch a 1/8” hole in the left side of one of the frame centers.
Journal the year onto white cardstock and attach it on the frame center.
Thread the “playful” vinyl tag word strip and the frame
center on the ball chain. Add a silver star brad above the large center
mat, then loop the ball chain around the brad. Secure the tags on the
page using a glue stick.
- Cut a 13” strip of ribbon words and lay it horizontally across
the page, 1 3/4” up from the bottom. Place the small words frame
vertically over the left side of the ribbon words strip. Add foam mounting
tape under the ribbon words in the center of the frame to raise the
ribbon, then glue down the frame. Wrap the ends of the ribbon around
the edges of the paper and secure on the back.
- Computer journal onto white cardstock and crop to fit on the page.
Mat the journaling onto blueberry cardstock and trim the mat to 1/8”.
Glue the matted journaling over the ribbon words on the bottom of the
page.
For the Right Page:
- Use the red scratches paper as the background. Attach the gingham
frame over one photo, trimming the photo even with the sides of the
frame. Mat the other photo on blueberry cardstock, then trim the mat
to 1/16”. Mat again on white cardstock, then trim the mat to 1/4”.
Arrange the photos on the background paper as shown, then secure with
a glue stick.
- Cut a 13” strip of ribbon words and lay it horizontally across
the page, 1 3/4” up from the bottom. Place the small blue frame
horizontally over the right side of the ribbon words strip. Add foam
mounting tape under the ribbon words in the center of the frame to raise
the ribbon, the glue down the frame. Wrap the ends of the ribbon around
the edges of the paper and secure on the back.
- Add a silver star brad to the front of the pocket, then attach the
pocket over the left end of the ribbon words strip. Arrange the vinyl
tag words as shown and secure with a glue stick. Cut a 3” strip
of blue and white gingham ribbon and attach it to the “trouble”
vinyl tag using a Glue Dot™. Add a silver star brad just above
the upper left corner of the gingham framed photo.

A Tip From Susan: Any mother of boys knows that sometimes it can be difficult to
find great papers and embellishments for boy-themed pages. That’s
why I love Attachments™
–they’re so versatile! You can use the vinyl tags whole
or cut them apart, or even make fun “buckles” out of the small
frames by adding them to strips of ribbon. The pockets are a great place
to store trinkets, display journaling, or hide secret messages! My favorite
part–these boy-themed Attachments™ are so easy to put together
on a layout because they’re already coordinated with the same words
and color scheme on every embellishment!
