Pumpkin Patch
Fall is here! And fall is big in my family. Between searching for the best Halloween costume, attending parties and stocking up on candy, we're always sure to fit in a yearly trip to the pumpkin patch. And I always make a point of scrapbooking annual events like these, because I love looking back at my daughter, Lauren, year by year. As she gets bigger, her choice of pumpkin seems to get bigger, too!

About this Page
Papers and embellishments from the Halloween Finished in a Flash!™ kit make LeNae's “Pumpkin Patch“ layout easy to create...everything's already coordinated for you! LeNae chose a striped, bordered paper as the background, layering two photos in the center. She used matching punch-outs for her page title and embellishments, plus blank punch-outs for coordinated computer journaling. She topped off the page with sweet bat-shaped brads surrounding the photos.

LeNae’s Tip of the Month
Overlapping elements is a great way to lead the viewer's eye throughout your layout. On this “Pumpkin Patch” page, I overlapped two photos in the center, allowing the viewer's eye to flow easily from one photo to the next. I then layered pumpkin punch-outs over the bottom of the photos. Overlapping a collage of elements creates unity between all the pieces, rather than appearing as if they're floating alone on the page. Finally, I carried the overlapping technique onto the page border by layering punch-outs on top to create my title. Repeating the overlapping technique in a few areas of the page will help to unify the whole layout. And overlapping saves on space too, which means you can include more of your favorite photos!

LeNae’s Steps to Making this Layout

  1. Place one sheet of striped paper with the border at the bottom. Double-mat a vertical photo on lime textured paper, then black cardstock, trimming each mat to 1/8". Glue the photo to the left side of the page. Mat a 5" square photo on black cardstock and trim to 1/8". Glue the square photo over the right side of the page, overlapping the upper right edge of the vertical photo.
  2. Foam tape the round pumpkin punch-out in the bottom left corner of the vertical photo. Glue the tall pumpkin punch-out and foam tape the Jack-O-Lantern punch-out side-by-side below the square photo. Computer journal on the small green tag punch-out and add a black mini brad to the tab. Foam tape the tag to the tall pumpkin.
  3. Computer journal on the purple label punch-out and attach it above the vertical photo with an orange mini brad in each end. Attach two black and two purple bat brads around the top of the photos.
  4. Attach the “Pumpkin” punch-out centered over the top of the page border with a purple brad in each end. Add a purple mini brad to each end of the “Patch” punch-out and foam tape it to the bottom right edge of “Pumpkin”.
