Hello! I’m Ann Barba—crafter, artist, designer, wife, and mother to a 16-month-old. A born and raised Oregonian, I lived briefly in Florida (for 2 years), and am now back in Oregon. I have been involved in the artistic and the creative for as long as I can remember. In my university days I pursued graphic design (in which I now do freelance work), and in post-grad I studied book design & publishing. Upon graduating, I spent 2 1/2 years working full time as a designer/product demonstrator at Hot Off The Press in Canby, OR, which I thoroughy enjoyed. Since becoming a mom, I now do contractual/commissioned work for Hot Off The Press/Paper Wishes, such as the Simply Ann blog, occasional works for Week of Webisodes, and other projects. I consider myself a WAHM (work at home mom), and as such, keep myself very busy!
Some of you may know me from past Paper Wishes Weekly Webisodes, which I co-hosted with HOTP President, Paulette Jarvey. The shows I worked on aired from Oct. 2010 to Oct. 2012, and were a lot of fun! If you would like to view them, they are available on the Weekly Webisodes homepage in the archives section. You’ll need to scroll way down to find the older episodes. For additional creative inspiration, I invite you to view the current Webisodes (they come out every Wednesday!) with Paulette and Gail Booth.
In 2012, shortly after I got married and changed my last name from Bernklau to Barba (note photos above), I moved to Florida, but I wanted to continue to share my creative ideas and tips, and thought of starting a blog. I’m now continuing the blog back home in Oregon. My hope with this video blog is to offer detailed, step-by-step video guides to making beautiful and creative projects. As I work, I’m always discovering new tricks and tips that I love to share. I hope you all enjoy watching, learning, and creating with me!
