Technique: Masking off part of a stamp
To use just part of a stamp’s design, mask off the part you don’t want with sticky cellophane tape (not the invisible kind, but the shiny style). After placing the stamp on the acrylic block, place tape over the unwanted section, leaving just the part you want to transfer exposed. Ink the stamp as usual, remove the tape, and stamp the design.
Instructions
- For the card front: Turn the card with the fold at the top. Cut 6"x4½" White Truffle dotted paper and mat on cardstock with 1/16" borders. Glue centered on the card front. Cut the decorative end of a die-cut paper to 4½". Glue to the front, extending from the top as shown. Lift up the petals on the die-cut flowers.
- Cut 6½"x¾" White Truffle black tapestry paper. Punch an open scallop border in 6½" cardstock and trim to 1" wide. Glue the tapestry paper to it, aligning the straight edges, then glue along the card top. Wrap ribbon around the front over the border and tie in a bow, 1¼" from the left edge. Punch out the papier tole label pieces. Stamp “you are so loved” on piece #1, then assemble the layers with foam tape. Glue to the stationery as shown.
- Use the template to trace and cut rounded label H from the die-cut paper leftovers, then trim off one tab. Mask (see above) the “I (heart) you” stamp so just “you” will transfer. Stamp it onto the tag, then stamp the small heart below it. Mat the tag on cardstock, then foam tape to extend from under the bow. Place the pearls as shown.
- For the inside: Cut 5"x4" White Truffle houndstooth paper with the lace on the left and mat on cardstock with 1/16" borders. Glue centered on the inside. Cut 6½"x1⅛" White Truffle black plaid paper. Punch a 6 ½" long cardstock border, then trim to ¾" wide. Glue as a mat on the lower edge of the plaid strip, then glue the strip next to the fold. Use the template to trace and cut bracket label B from white paper, then stamp “hugs & kisses” on it. Mat on black cardstock with 1/32" borders, then foam tape and place pearls as shown.
