Techniques: #1 Zigzag Photo Border #2 Paper Ribbon #3 Linen/Dazzle Banner Journaling Recipe: “Awards” Journal the qualities of a subject that deserve recognition, like how an award was achieved. Step #1 Background For both pages: Place the blue star paper as the background. Place a 4 3/4”x3 1/2” orange dot paper 1/4” from upper left edges of left page only. Place four 12”x1” yellow dot papers 3 1/8” from top and bottom edges. Place two 11 3/4”x4 3/4” red dot papers centered, even with center edges of left and right page. Step #2 Photos For left page: Mat two 3”x4 1/4” photos on black with 1/8” borders. Place on left and right ends of red strip. Mat a 3 1/2”x5” photo on black with 1/8” border, then on white star paper with 1/2” border. Ink edges and center on red strip. Place double scallop border Dazzles™ on center and right photo, as shown. Back tiny banner Dazzles™ with yellow paper, cut around Dazzles™ edge and place on right hand photo. Place “Hooray”, star and scroll Dazzles™ on center photo. For right page: Mat 2”x3” photo on white then black with 1/8” borders. Place on upper left corner of red strip, 1/4” from edge. Mat 5”x7” photo on black with 1/8” border and use Zigzag Photo Border technique. TECHNIQUE: ZIGZAG PHOTO BORDER Cut a 7”x8” zigzag paper, with zigzags running vertical. Cut along a zigzag on the left side. Vertically score every other zigzag point and fold scored points to the right. Slide your 5”x7” matted photo under folded points to see which zigzag points extend past right side of photo. Remove photo and cut zigzag on right, scoring and folding over every other point. Slide photo under folded points, glue photo in place and Zot™ each point over photo. Mat on black with 1/8” border. Place photo on lower right of page, 1/2” from edges. TECHNIQUE: paper ribbon Cut five 3/4”x3 1/2” blue herringbone papers. Take one strip and Zot™ its ends together, creating a folded loop like a bow, with blue on outside of loop. Repeat for each strip. Cut five 3/4”x3” white star papers. Repeat process with each strip, with stars on outside of loop. Zot™ ends of blue loops together, stacking and turning to form a 5 loop circular bow shape. Zot™ end of star loops in the center, stacking and turning for a second layer. Cut a single circle from white star paper, ink edges and mat on blue with 1/8” border. Ink edges and Zot™ on center of bow. Cut two 1”x4” blue strips. Cut inverted “V” shape at one end of each and mat on white with 1/16” border. Place blue strips at an angle on the red paper and Zot™ on two 5” lengths of blue and two 5” lengths of yellow twine. Zot™ on the bow. Step #3 JOURNALING For left page: Journal two photo captions on 1 3/4”x1” white cardstock, mat on black with 1/8” borders and place on left and center photos. Journal on 2”x5/8” white cardstock, mat on black with 1/8” border and place on right hand photo TECHNIQUE: LINEN/DAZZLE BANNER Place a large pennant Dazzle over “I” and “S” and trim along Dazzle edge. Place a small inner pennant Dazzle on white cardstock and cut around dazzle to use as a template. Use template to trace around the letters “F,” “R,” and “T.” Cut out and ink edges. Ink edges of linen pennants and Zot™ on letters. Thread a 24” length of yellow twine through rivets of linen pennants and place on top of page, leaving room for the journaled pennant Dazzles™ between, to spell out the word “FIRST.” Glue ends of twine in a pleasing curly pattern. Cut two single circles from white star paper, ink edges and mat on orange with 1/8” border. Ink edges and foam tape over twine as shown. Step #4 EMBELLISHING For left page: Use edge of Dazzles™ sheet next to circle border as a border treatment on upper left orange paper. Back flag group Dazzles™ with white stars, yellow and zigzag papers, cutting around each flag shape. Place on orange paper, and place small stars on center flag. Back “Love Lives Here” banner Dazzle with yellow, trimming around banner. Cut the banner in half vertically and place on right and left of foam taped title, putting cut edges underneath. Use small 4 point-star Dazzles™ on title corners, and add a starburst Dazzle. For right page: Place “You are Amazing” Dazzle on upper corner of large photo, star Dazzle on center of bow, and scroll and star Dazzles™ around bow. |
