Designer’s Tip: When drawing the triangle shape of the folded flag, using a mini linen banner can be a helpful template. Techniques: #1 Rolled Journaling Banner #2 Folded Flags #3 Backed Dazzles™ Step #1 Background: For both pages: Place the blue banner paper as the background. Cut two 12”x1” strips of red dot paper. Place circle border Dazzles™ on the top edge and trim the top. Glue the bottom half of it on the bottom edge of the background paper. Step #2 Photos: For both pages: Mat a 3”x2” photo on white cardstock with 1/8” borders. Mat it on black cardstock with 1/16” borders. Repeat for three more 3”x2” photos and set them aside. Technique: Rolled Journaling Banner: For both pages: Cut four 4”x6” yellow dot papers. Write or computer print journal a tradition title and description centered on each paper, the description 1/2” from the bottom edge. Ink the paper edges black. Glue the top edge of the paper backside and roll the top edge over a pencil, gluing the roll in place. Glue the photos on its matching journaled paper centered in between the journaling. For the left page: Foam tape the first banner 3 1/2” from the bottom edge and 1” from the right edge. Leaving 1 1/2” in between the two banners, foam tape the second banner 3” from the bottom and 1 1/2” from the right edge. For the right page: Foam tape the third banner 3 1/2” from the bottom and 1 1/4” from the left. Foam tape the fourth banner 4 3/4” from the bottom and 1 1/2” from the right. For both pages: String together the banners with the orange bakers twine and cut both ends 3/4” from the paper edges. Cut the twine in the center where the two papers meet. Zot™ all four ends of the twine on the background paper so both pieces line up. Using the wood bingo motif’s, trace two circles on red dot paper and cut them out. Zot™ one on each of the motifs, and place a big heart Dazzles™ in the center of each. Zot™ the motif on the outer most ends of the twine, as shown. font: CorinthiaProfessional 40 and 18 pt. Technique: Folded Flags: For the left page: Using a mini linen banner as the template, trace a triangle on blue arc paper. Flip the template over and line its short edge up side-by-side with the traced short edge. Trace around the template, so there are two triangle shapes next to one another. Cut the paper around the outer lines. Fold the paper in half at 1/4” left of center, so both sides of the double-sided paper can be seen and it looks like a flag. Place a big star burst Dazzles™ in the center of the smaller flag and place the small border Dazzles™ on its top and bottom edges. Mat the flag on black cardstock with 1/16” borders. Foam tape it with two layers of tape, 3 3/4” from the bottom edge and in between the two banners. Cut 1 1/2” of border Dazzles™. Place one end on the bottom-left inside of the folded flag. Lining up the folded flag edge and the Dazzles™, place the other end under the red dot paper, creating a flag pole. Zot the small folded flag onto the big folded flag. For the right page: Trace two flag templates on white circle/star paper and cut around the outer edge. Fold the paper in half at 1/4” left of center. Place a Dazzles™ on the small flag center and a small banner Dazzles™ on the left edge. Place the small border Dazzles™ on its edges. Mat the flag on black cardstock with 1/16” borders. Foam tape it 2” from the bottom edge and 1/2” from the left edge. Cut 1 1/2” of border Dazzles™. Place one end on the inside of the folded flag and place the other end under the red dot paper. Repeat for the third flag on zigzag paper, foam taping it 3 1/2” from the bottom and 3 3/4” from the right edge, and placing 3 1/4” long border Dazzles™ on the background paper. Technique: Backed Dazzles™: For the left page: Back the banner of “the best is...” on solid red paper, leaving out the sentiment. Trim the excess paper around and in it. Write the title in the banner of the Dazzles™ with a black pen. Glue it on the background paper, 1” from the top-right edges. Place star Dazzles™ around the title randomly as shown. Back the banner of “so many reasons...” Dazzles™ on orange dot paper. Trim the excess paper around and in it. Place the sentiment Dazzles™ in the banner. Glue it on the background paper, 1 1/2” from the bottom edge and 2” from the right edge, so it is on top of the flag pole Dazzles™. Place star, flower, and confetti Dazzles™ around the sentiment and along the bottom of the paper randomly as shown. Glue the top half of the red dot background paper. For the right page: Back the banner of “HAPPINESS IS HOMEMADE” Dazzles™ on blue arc paper. Trim the excess paper. Place the sentiment in the banner. Glue it 2” from the bottom and 1” from the right. Place Dazzles™ around it and along the bottom of the paper as shown. Glue the red dot paper. |
