Technique: Inking Color Me™ Card Toppers with ink pads
The wide sections on this topper make it easy to ink. Mask off the center section with stencil tape, then simply rub the two outer sections with an ink pad. Remove the tape, mask off the outer sections, and ink the center area with another ink.
Instructions:
- For the card front: Turn the card with the fold on the left and cut cardstock to cover the front. Place the card topper on the craft sheet and mask off the center area with tape. Ink the outer areas arctic deep by rubbing the pad over the paper. Remove the tape, then mask the outer areas with clean tape. Ink the center sea crystal, remove the tape, and let dry.
- Cut 2" off one end of the topper. Glue both pieces to the cardstock center, butting the outer end edges together. Fold a 15" tulle ribbon in half and wrap it around the cardstock and topper, tying it in the front. Glue the cardstock to the card front.
- Press a rose leaf face down on the green pad until the front is completely inked. Use a foam applicator to ink a 1 1/2" rose with sea crystal, inking between the petals near the base. Use another applicator to brush arctic deep ink across the petal ends. When dry, use tape to secure the leaf and rose just below the tulle knot.
- Cut out the 1 7/8" Damask blank label and ink it sea crystal. When completely dry, stamp “for someone special” in black on it. Foam tape to the front, extending from under the rose, then place black crystals as shown.
- For the inside: Cut out the Damask butterfly and the “congratulations” and “celebrate” labels. Ink the long label arctic deep and the smaller label sea crystal. Glue as shown. Ink the upper butterfly wings arctic deep and the lower wings sea crystal, using the foam applicators. Secure the body with tape and the wings with foam tape as shown. Knot a 3 1/2" folded tulle ribbon, trim the ends, and glue to the label, then place black crystals as shown.
