- Lion: Print the lion pattern and use transfer paper to trace pattern onto the back of the suede paper. Cut out and add detail lines with the Sharpie® pen. Mat the body and head with black cardstock, cutting close to the suede edge. Cut the nose from black. There is no pattern for the tail so I cut a 1/8” x 1 ½” suede strip and matted it on black. Top one end with a clipped rectangle of felt.
- Cut two 2 ½” circles of brown felt and clip ¾” into each circle and 1/8” apart to make the mane. Assemble the lion and glue to a black matted 3 ½” square of white cardstock. Secure brown mini brads to each corner.
- Card: Place the card fold at the top. Cover 2/3 of the card with brown dot paper and the remaining 1/3 with brown striped paper. Glue a ¼” x 6 ½” black cardstock strip over the paper seam. Foam tape the lion square on the left. Print “I’m Not Lion” on the brown tag and embellish with a knotted black ribbon at the top and secure a large brown flower at the bottom right corner. Glue the tag to the right.
- Inside the card: Cover the inside back with brown dot paper. Print “I hope you have a Happy Birthday!” on the brown tag. Glue the tag to the top and secure mini brads on each side.
Designer Tip: Using a sharpie® pen on the suede paper will prevent bleeding and gives a nice clean line. Adhesive dots are great for securing the layers of felt to the suede paper. |
