Designer Tip: When creating a collaged canvas, select a color scheme with 3-4 colors. I like to use colors on one half and them bring those colors in small details on the other half. For example the large aqua metal frame. I used the same color aqua in buttons and used them on the opposite side of the canvas to provide continuity to the piece.
Instructions:
- Use the paint to divide the canvas into sections. Paint a brown 4 ¾”x8” rectangle on the left side of the canvas. One 5 ¼”x2 ½” pink rectangle at the bottom right and a 5 ¼”x2½” lime green rectangle above it. Use the remaining space at the top right to make two 2 ½” rectangles, one pink and one brown. Let the paint dray and the lightly dry brush a small amount of white paint over the sections, with the large brown rectangle strokes going vertically and the sections on the right going horizontally. Let dry.
- Tear different patterns of blue papers, smaller than the painted rectangles and glue to the sections of the right side. Tear a random word from pink paper and glue to the green rectangle. Tear a large pink rectangle for the large brown section. Use Tacky glue to adhere the paper to the canvas. Cut a “V” in the end of a 3 ½”x1 ½” blue rectangle. Ink the edges brown and glue to the top left edge of the canvas.
- Apply glue stick to the embossed areas of the metal frame. Sprinkle with glitter and tap off the excess. Place the photo behind the frame and glue to the large pink paper rectangle. Glue a rose, clock die-cut, button and initial tied with ribbon below the frame. Ink the edges of chip alphabet and glue above the frame.
- Glue and foam tape the word “adore” to the bottom blue paper rectangle. Glue keys topped with a knotted ribbon length and a collection of buttons to the green rectanlge. Glue a rose die-cut to a blue paper rectangle and embellish the center of the rose with glitter. Glue a large heart die-cut to the remaining blue paper rectangle at the top of the canvas. Foam tape a small heart at the lower right and glue buttons as shown.
