For the Left Page :
- Arrange the orange with floral border paper so the border runs down the right side and ink the edges with brown. Mat a vertical photo on white cardstock, trimming the mat to 1/16”, then ink the edges with brown. Glue the matted photo over the orange portion of the background paper, 3/8” down from the top edge.
- Cut out one of the flower tiles and ink the edges with brown, then glue in the upper left corner of the photo. Cut out the “Spirit” definition, file folder, the “u-nique” license plate and “happy” artwork. Use foam tape to attach it overlapping the photo at the bottom of the page, as shown. Use a black pen to journal down the sides of the photo.
For the Right Page:
- Use the retro flowers paper as the background and ink the edges with brown. Mat a vertical photo on white cardstock, trimming the mat to 1/16” and inking the edges with brown. Mat again on blue scratches paper, trimming the top, bottom and left edges of the mat to 1/8” and leaving the right edge of the mat at 1 3/4”, then ink the edges with brown. Cut a 7 1/2” length of light pink grosgrain ribbon and lay it vertically down the right edge of the photo mat, wrapping the ends around the top and bottom edges of the mat to secure on the back. Mat the photo again on dots and circles paper, trimming the mat to 3/8” and inking the edges with brown. Glue the matted photo centered on the background paper.
- Cut out the “unique” label and glue it across the bottom of the photo. Cut a 9” length of light pink grosgrain ribbon and trim the tails at an angle. Tie the ribbon into a shoestring bow, then use a Glue Dot™ to attach the bow to the top of the ribbon length on the photo mat. Cut out the “enjoy” artwork and use foam tape to attach it at an angle just under the bow.
A tip from Shauna: Though it often seems like scrapbooking taboo, when working with the right coordinating patterned papers, you can create a unique effect on your double-page spread by arranging a background paper with a border on it so the border runs down the center of the spread. On this particular spread, I selected a background paper for the left page that has a border with the exact same pattern as the pattern that covers the background paper on the right page. By placing the border down the right side of the left page, the border ends up in the center of the layout and the cool retro flowers cover 2/3 of the double-page spread.
