Thinking of You Color Me Card
By Susan Cobb
Designer Tip: Here I allowed the raspberry and clover inks to mix in some areas, resulting in a pretty purple color, plus blue and dark pink. I used a paper towel and blending solution to dab over the butterfly and swirl pattern to bring it back to white, although it's also fun to leave areas of the pattern a bit colored with the ink.
- With the fold at the left, cover the card front with Color Me Glossy Butterflies paper, trimming edges evenly. Add a few drops of blending solution to the paper, then a few drops of raspberry and clover inks, randomly over the blending solution. Use the applicator and felt to spread the colors over the paper, allowing them to mix slightly as you go along. Use a paper towel moistened with blending solution to dab over the butterfly and swirl pattern to bring it back to white.
- Cut loosely around the butterfly, borders, label, and tag. Add a few drops of raspberry and clover inks to an applicator felt moistened with blending solution. Spread the color onto the pieces, mixing the color to a deep purple on each piece. Use a paper towel to wipe and bring the pattern back to white. Trim each piece so it has a thin purple border outside the white. Glue borders and label to the card front as shown. Foam tape the body of the butterfly to the card. Zot a ribbon near the lower left edge of the label. Write or computer print "Thinking of you" on white cardstock, trim to a rectangle and glue centered on the label.
- Inside the card: Cut a 5"x2" rectangle from Color Me Glossy Butterflies paper and ink the paper as you did for the card front. Let dry. Glue centered across the inside. Glue ribbon tab to top of the tag and glue the tag overlapping the rectangle. Write or computer print "Today and always" on white cardstock, trim to rectangles and glue to the tag as shown.
