- Use the yellow stripe paper as the background, turning the paper so the stripes run horizontally. Ink the left and right edges of the background paper black. Cut an 8 1/2" wide piece of purple textured paper and ink the long edges. Cut one strip of circles off the yellow circles paper, ink the long edges and glue vertically 1/2" from the right edge of the purple textured paper. Mat the long edges of the purple textured paper on gold glimmer paper, trimming the mats to 1/8". Glue the whole piece vertically down the background paper, centered between the left and right edges.
- Mat a horizontal photo on lime textured paper, trim the mat to 1/8" and ink the edges. Mat again on gold glimmer paper, trimming the mat to 1/8". Glue the matted photo 7/8" from the top of the page, centered between the left edge of the purple textured paper and the yellow circles paper strip. Computer journal a caption onto lime textured paper, crop to a long strip and ink the edges. Mat the journaling on gold glimmer paper, trim the mat to 1/16" and glue overlapping the bottom edge of the photo. Computer journal the place and date onto lime textured paper, crop to a small rectangle and ink the edges. Glue over the yellow letters tag, then glue the tag at an angle overlapping the left edge of the photo. Add one silver brad to the tab at the top of the tag.
- Computer journal onto lime textured paper, crop to a rectangle and ink the edges. Mat on gold glimmer paper, trim the mat to 1/16" and glue 1/4" from the bottom edge of the page, centered under the photo.
- Cover two square slide mounts with lime textured paper and one with gold glimmer paper, then ink the edges of all three. Add a photo to the window of each slide mount. Glue the gold slide mount centered 1/4" above the journaling block. Glue the lime slide mounts on opposite angles to the left and right sides of the gold slide mount, slightly overlapping the edges of the gold slide mount. Add one silver brad to the top of each of the lime slide mounts.
A tip from Susan: With another school year coming to a close, take this opportunity to document friendships and future plans! I love bright, retro patterns and colors for scrapping teen photos, but sometimes it can be difficult to keep the focus on the photos and journaling when working with papers that are covered in bold colors and strong patterns. Here’s a tip: Add a large block of solid or lightly faux-textured paper to the layout to break up the pattern of the background paper and create a surface to display your photos and journaling. On this “Senior Year” layout, I also matted my photos and journaling separately on solid, contrasting papers and framed small photos in slide mounts to make them really stand out.
