Pop Up & Watercolor Cards

Hello friends, today’s blog features cards that don’t take long to make and offer a BIG impact.

This sweet bird card was quick and easy to make thanks to the Stampendous Pop Up Stages Die Set,  Song Birds Paper Pack and Ribbon Set. The Song Birds Stamp Set offered the perfect greeting.

Stampendous has a great video on how to use the dies. Click here to view.

For the inside I used Song Birds Foil Paper Tole which helped speed things up because I didn’t have to create the pop up images. Notice that I stamped along the bottom using Song Birds Stamp Set.

This next card features a simple watercolor stamping technique. This look is really on trend, but I think it can intimidate some people so I made a quick little video to demonstrate just how simple it is.

This techniques works best with stamps that don’t have a lot of detail. I used Bejeweled Stamp from Penny Black, which is a cling rubber stamp and you will need a large 4″x6″ acrylic block. For coloring I used Spectrum Noir Aqua Essentials pens which have both a fine tip and brush tip. I love this brush tip and it’s perfect for the watercolor technique!

You can use cardstock for this technique, but I find that it warps slightly when wet. I chose watercolor paper and a Spritzer filled with water. Finally, I stamped a greeting using Special Thoughts stamps set and black Memento Ink. I selected Charming Paper Pack for the background papers and added a little natural jute twine to keep with the garden theme.

Then I simply colored the stems, leaves and blossoms using the Aqua pens, spritzed with water and stamped my watercolor image. It’s that simple!

If you’re intimidated by coloring directly on to your stamps, you will be amazed at how easy this technique is to recreate, check out this little video.

Yes, Songbirds is one of my favorites too, which is funny because I have a bit of a phobia when it comes to live birds!

Nice refresher and idea for Aqua markers. I, too, love using watercolor paper for best results. I tend to use larger image stamps with my Aqua markers.
