Angels & Butterfly Cards

Hi everyone! Today I’m bringing you things with wings, or Angels and Butterfly cards, which are 2 of my favorite ethereal images.

First up is a Frame Pop-Out Die-Cut Card using Sara Davies Guardian Angel Cutting Die.

The Frame Pop-Out Die-Cut Cards come ready to decorate with your favorite papers and embellishments which makes this card a snap to put together!

I love the intricate details on this angel. She is so beautiful!

I used gold and black papers, from Christmas Wonder Paper Pack, on the inside frame and sides and added Red Jewel Border Dazzles™ Stickers for sparkle.

I die cut the angel from Metallic Gold Paper,  backed it with Vellum and embellished the skirt with Red Jewel Dazzles™ Stickers and a bow made from Christmas Wonders Ribbon Set.

For the card front, I traced the frame pattern onto Red Christmas Wonder Paper and matted it with Vellum.” Merry Christmas”  was cut from Metallic Gold Paper using Christmas Script Greetings Cutting Dies.

This butterfly card contains some mixed media elements. After covering the card with Winter’s Butterfly tan text paper I tore papers for the border.

Next I used Flutterby Butterflies Stencil and a lavender ink pad along the right edge.

When using the  Layering Butterflies Stamps, I like to use the Tim Holtz Stamp Platform and 2 shades of purple ink.

Finally, I used the Layering Butterflies Cutting Dies to die-cut each large butterfly, create a top layer from blue paper and I added foam tape under each wing to give a lift. Stamp some small dark purple butterflies and embellish with Stickles Silver Glitter Glue and add “Love” cut from both navy blue paper and Metallic Silver Paper using Script Greeting Cutting Dies.

That’s all for today. Have a wonderful week and try to leave some time to make something pretty and pass it on to someone else. Happy Crafting!

Snow Globe & Window Card

Hi everyone! I’m back in the Christmas mood today so…more cards!

This cutie uses Christmas Wonder Paper Pack, Ribbon Set, Christmas Greetings Dazzles™ Stickers, Red Jewel Border Dazzles™ Stickers, Red Jewel Dazzles™ Stickers and Snow Globe Dazzles™ Stickers. It was quick and easy to make. My favorite!

Did you know that Paper Wishes provides a FREE download with backgrounds made for the Snow Globes?

Just align the sticker on the printed background and then cut it out! There is even some extra art to decorate the inside of your card or envelope.

This window easel card was fun to make! Don’t worry, I’ll show you how:

Making the easel card base is easy. Cut red cardstock to 5″x12″ and fold it in half (short sides together).

Ink edges of 4 3/4″x5 3/4″ green dot Winter’s Garden Paper Pack and glue to one side of the folded cardstock. Trace the inside of the large Lacy Rectangle Frames Cutting Die and use scissors or an Retractable Knife to cut away the rectangle to make a window.

Now it’s time to make the bottom portion of the easel.

Cut a 5″x6 1/4″ piece,  fold the top over 1/4″ and place a strip of Extra Sticky 1/4″ Wide Double-Sided Tape to the folded edge. This will fold inside the card when not standing.

Cut the Lacy Rectangle Frame from blue snowflake Winter’s Garden Paper. Glue Vellum Dots Paper behind the frame’s inside edge. Glue the frame centered on the card window.

Turn a Window Double-Embossed Foil Sticker over with the sticky side facing up. Color the back of the sticker with Brights Spectrum Noir™ Pens. It is important to know that if you color the front of the sticker the alcohol in the pens will remove the gold embossing.

Place the sticker on the center of the vellum window. Ink edges of 4 5/8″x 2″ blue snowflake paper black and foam tape to the bottom of the card. Place Long Christmas Greetings Dazzles™ Stickers and a bow sticker as shown. Prop the card front behind the foam taped greeting and place a battery tea light inside for a glow.

The NEW Paper Wishes Fall Catalog is available NOW online and will be in your mailbox this week.

Also, a NEW Week of Webisodes starts this week!

That’s all for today! Let me know in the “comments” if there is something you would like to see on the blog. Happy crafting!

Cozy Christmas Cabin

Hi everyone! I have a new paper pack to show you this week! Christmas Cabin is cozy, colorful and versatile!

The coordinating Christmas Cabin Scrapbooking Dazzles™ Stickers provide just the right embellishment for pages, cards and other paper crafts.

This adorable family Christmas page also includes Red Jewel Dazzles™ Stickers, Christmas Cabin Ribbons, Yuletide Greetings Embellishment Bottle and a beautiful Botanica Red Flower.

I love that the Christmas Cabin Scrapbooking Dazzles™ Stickers include sentiments that work for both scrapbooking and cardmaking.

This wreath on a picket fence card is made with Christmas Cabin Paper Pack and Ribbons, Long Christmas Greetings Dazzles™ Stickers, Tonic Autumn Red Nuvo Crystal Drops, Yellow/Green Cat’s Eye Queue Ink Pad Set, and the New Layering Wreath & Pinecones Stamp Set.

To make the stamped wreath, I used 2 shades of green ink and the Tim Holtz Stamp Platform to stamp the wreath twice.

I made a quick video to show you how this wreath was made using the Tim Holtz Stamp Platform.

For more ideas using Hot Off The Press’s Christmas Layering Stamps check out this Webisode from August 30th.

Winter’s Garden Cards from Teresa and Susan!

With Halloween now behind us, it feels safe to start delving into the holidays with a little Christmas cardmaking! Hot Off The Press’ 2015 Christmas Collection is called Winter’s Garden and it’s a fun, new look for Christmas! We’ve updated the traditional “Christmas red” by adding lime green, sky blue and chocolate, and I’m more than in love with the tiny holly pattern.

Here are two gorgeous cards from two of our top designers, Teresa Welch and Susan Cobb. These ladies are always creating inspiring projects, and I just had to share! Below, Teresa’s card makes use of Winter’s Garden Foil Paper Tole—a quick and easy route to a stunning focal! For a cleaner look, she’s used Winter’s Garden Die-Cuts on the inside. Don’t be afraid to mix and match the two!

Below, we have Susan’s card that also features Winter’s Garden Foil Paper Tole, and she has added sugared berries and a red blossom for even more impact! Both cards make use of Jewel Dazzles™, and these babies just make everything a little more special! They add bling to your projects (without the bump!) and really, you can’t have too many. 🙂

Susan’s Tip: I pulled apart clusters of the Green Sugared Berries and added them individually at the edges of the paper tole embellishment as 3-dimensional accents. Ink the gold Dazzles™ “Joy” with metallic silver ink and let dry before adding it to the round die-cut on the inside.

Supplies:

Notice that both of these ladies chose to use doilies in their card designs! This adds a really sweet, vintage touch to each of these cards, which pairs really nicely with that charming holly pattern! Click on any item below to see more detail:

Inspired enough yet? I know I am! I look forward to making Christmas cards each year, and having a coordinated set makes it so much easier for me! And do you see that giant red grosgrain?! Be still, my beating heart! Anyway, I think I’ve drooled enough for the time being. Hope you enjoyed these lovely cards as much as I have. Have you started on your Christmas cardmaking yet? Let me know!

Take care & have a great weekend!
