Christmas Card & Faith Card

Hello everyone! Do you like making special one-of-a-kind Christmas cards for family and friends or do you make several of the same kind and then move on to something new? Either way, it’s nice to have tools that we can use repeatedly.

I made these woodsy wreath cards using Dee’s Distinctively™ Cutting Dies Wreath Builder, Hot Off The Press 120 Merry Christmas Dazzles™ Stickers, Red Jewel Dazzles™ Stickers, Emerald Glimmer Paper, Christmas Cabin Paper Pack and Ribbon Set.

The Wreath Builder Dies make these cards quick to make. I cut leaves from 3 different green papers and then used a large stylus on a foam surface (mouse pad or craft foam) to curve each leaf.

Use Glue or Zots™ to place each leaf around the edges of a 2 1/2″ wide circle die-cut .

Place foam tape on the back of the circle and place on the card front.

Place a bow and large Red Jewel Dazzles™ Stickers as shown. I especially like that 120 Merry Christmas Dazzles™ Stickers features multiple greetings in the same font and color, which helps in making identical cards.

Looking to after Chritmas projects, Penny Black has a wonderful line of faith based stamps that I have seen used in Bible Journaling, but I wondered how I would use them on cards.

Here is what I came up with….

The same Penny Black Stamps, Gifts From Above and Spiritual Snippets, just used in a new way.

I paired the stamps with Onyx Glimmer Paper, Zen Butterflies Dazzles™ Stickers and Tim Holtz’s Metallic Distress Crayons to create the shimmery background.

For the background I colored white cardstock with lines of gold, bronze and silver crayon.

Then I misted the cardstock lightly with a Spritzer filled with water.

Finally, I smudged the moistened crayon with my fingertips and blotted with a dry paper towel. I added Zen Butterfly Dazzles™ Stickers and both Gifts From Above and Spiritual Snippets Stamps which are both so versatile when making cards of encouragement.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you found some inspiration for your next project. Happy crafting!

Snow Globe & Window Card

Hi everyone! I’m back in the Christmas mood today so…more cards!

This cutie uses Christmas Wonder Paper Pack, Ribbon Set, Christmas Greetings Dazzles™ Stickers, Red Jewel Border Dazzles™ Stickers, Red Jewel Dazzles™ Stickers and Snow Globe Dazzles™ Stickers. It was quick and easy to make. My favorite!

Did you know that Paper Wishes provides a FREE download with backgrounds made for the Snow Globes?

Just align the sticker on the printed background and then cut it out! There is even some extra art to decorate the inside of your card or envelope.

This window easel card was fun to make! Don’t worry, I’ll show you how:

Making the easel card base is easy. Cut red cardstock to 5″x12″ and fold it in half (short sides together).

Ink edges of 4 3/4″x5 3/4″ green dot Winter’s Garden Paper Pack and glue to one side of the folded cardstock. Trace the inside of the large Lacy Rectangle Frames Cutting Die and use scissors or an Retractable Knife to cut away the rectangle to make a window.

Now it’s time to make the bottom portion of the easel.

Cut a 5″x6 1/4″ piece,  fold the top over 1/4″ and place a strip of Extra Sticky 1/4″ Wide Double-Sided Tape to the folded edge. This will fold inside the card when not standing.

Cut the Lacy Rectangle Frame from blue snowflake Winter’s Garden Paper. Glue Vellum Dots Paper behind the frame’s inside edge. Glue the frame centered on the card window.

Turn a Window Double-Embossed Foil Sticker over with the sticky side facing up. Color the back of the sticker with Brights Spectrum Noir™ Pens. It is important to know that if you color the front of the sticker the alcohol in the pens will remove the gold embossing.

Place the sticker on the center of the vellum window. Ink edges of 4 5/8″x 2″ blue snowflake paper black and foam tape to the bottom of the card. Place Long Christmas Greetings Dazzles™ Stickers and a bow sticker as shown. Prop the card front behind the foam taped greeting and place a battery tea light inside for a glow.

The NEW Paper Wishes Fall Catalog is available NOW online and will be in your mailbox this week.

Also, a NEW Week of Webisodes starts this week!

That’s all for today! Let me know in the “comments” if there is something you would like to see on the blog. Happy crafting!

Quick & Easy Christmas Cardmaking

Hi everyone! It’s officially fall and time to turn my attention to Christmas Cards! I don’t know about you, but I’m a fan of the Quick & Easy Christmas card that has lots of WOW!

This sparkly snowflake card is made using Winter’s Butterfly Paper Pack, Ribbon Set, White Jewel Dazzles™ Stickers, Black Tiny Christmas Words Dazzles™ Stickers, Paper House Home For Christmas Merry Laser Cut Card Pack and Cosmic Shimmer Lavender Glitter Kiss.

Here’s a little tip for you when using the Merry Laser Cut Card Topper. I placed it on white cardstock then covered it with the Cosmic Shimmer Lavender Glitter Kiss. I used several coats of glitter to cover snowflakes and found that after removing the Snowflake Laser Cut piece, I really liked the stenciled image that was left behind! So I made a card with it!

Once again, I used Winter’s Butterfly Paper Pack,  Ribbon Set and then I added some  Fuchsia Jewel Dazzles™ Stickers and Birthday Greetings Dazzles™ Stickers for the winter birthdays in my family.

10 Minute Cards:

Here are a few more examples of Quick & Easy Cards. I love these colorful little note cards and I paired them with 26 Christmas Metal Stencils Value Pack and Silver Chrome, Lavender, Sky Blue, Sea Green and Sahara Gold Glitter Kiss! Because Glitter Kiss dries so fast, I was able to make each card in 10 minutes or less! No Kidding!

I would suggest using Stencil Tape to keep things in place and masking off unwanted areas of the metal stencils.

Here is a little video from Creative Expressions that has lots of helpful tips for using Glitter Kiss.

That’s all for today. Enjoy your day and be sure to leave time to make something pretty. Happy Crafting!

Garden Walk Cardmaking

Hello everyone! I love this time of year when I can share more new and wonderful paper packs with you! Today is Garden Walk! These papers are inspired by botanical gardens, but the colors are also perfect for the fall season.

This first card features the Penny Black Serenity & Peace tree and Believe dies which are both so versatile.

The 4″ Round Paper Doily is easily customized by inking the edge with bronze ink from Basics Cat’s Eye® Queue® Ink Pads.

Die cut the Serenity & Peace tree from Double Sided Adhesive and place it over the doily.

After removing the backing I sprinkled Gemstones Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Flakes over the adhesive and then used Scoochy Foam square to burnish off the excess flake. Don’t waste it! Return the excess flakes to the jar and use it again.

Cut the Penny Black Believe die from black cardstock and glue over the trunk of the tree.

For a completely different look I paired the Garden Walk Papers and Ribbon Set with the Prima Princess Collection Stella Stamp and Penny Black Vine Borders Cutting Dies.

After stamping the image with Black Memento Ink, I used FS7 from Pastels Spectrum Noir™ Pen Set to outline areas on the face and body.

Next I colored the skin with FS4, blending the darker shade with the light.

If coloring stamps with skin tones intimidates you, then consider spot coloring the image, omitting the skin tones and focusing on the flowers.

When coloring the flowers, I continued to use Pastels Spectrum Noir™ Pen Set as well as Purple and Pink Spectrum Noir™ Pen Sets. Once cut out I can easily substitute this spot colored image for the fully colored one on my card.

Thanks for joining me today. Remember to make some time during the week to craft something pretty. Happy Crafting!
